<div class="IPBDescription">Yes, orchestral.</div> Hello, fellow forumites. Lately (well, today, sort of), I've gotten into mood to listen to majestic orchestral scores. You know... The ones that can make you tingle.

But for the life of me, I couldn't find any sites dedicated to such orchestral scores. So I turn to you. I know I'll get tons of links and ideas. Oh, and don't post links to any stuff that infringes copyrights, please! <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Oh and to give you an idea... There have been a few tracks in Armaggedon that are quite majestic and nice. They don't even have to be fully orchestral, as long as an orchetra is there in the mix.

EDIT: I have the Dragonheart and Waterworld soundtracks, but those aren't quite what I'm looking for...

Not really Orchestral (or whatever), more Operatic, try the Russian Red Army Choir, they're really good.

    Harry Gregson Williams ROCKS.

Anything Tchaik. Symphonies 1-6, its all good.

Most things Dvorak, New world symphony is really nice.

    Things Holst, The Planets namely.

Mahler, especially for a brassy sound, like 1-10 symphonies and more....

Then if you don't mind alot of shorter tracks, look for some of Stravinsky's ballets. (you haven't probably ever heard a ballet as angry as some....lol). Rite of Spring (Sacre du Printemps) is good. L'Oiseau de Feu (The Firebird) is also quite good. Though I have yet to hear it, Petrouchka is supposed to be excellent.

    Hope it helps.

Stuff by John Williams. He made stuff for Battlestar Galactica, Star Wars, and more I can't think of.

I also like the Trans Siberian Orchestra, they are a sorta classic/rock mix that is quite nice.

    Jssmfulhud, You're just looking for inspiration for Hull Breach aren't you? Don't deny it <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Hull breach? Everyone knows Middle Eastern music is the pwn when it comes to space combat, not majestic orchestral scores. Those are only good when it's unrealistic space combat, like in Star Wars.

But in a game about infantry in space (no such thing), I guess the calm, surreal techno would be best. There is no sound in space, and it would create a weird mood to be hearing nothing but your own breathing and Gauss gun with music similar to the less-frantic tracks in Half-Life 2. And watching missiles fly past your visor as you free-fall (float?) onto an enemy ship.

You capitalized the "M" in "music": the download won't work because of that.

My personal favorite in the majestic scores category is Aaron Copland. Check out Appalacian Spring. There are sections of that which bring me to tears every now and then.

Thanks guys, will check them all out. And no, NeonSpyder, not about Hull-Breach. HB has its composers. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Not completely orchestrated but definatly worth listening to - <a href='http://www.ocremix.org/detailmix.php?mixid=OCR01164' target='_blank'>Jenova from FF7 for Classical Piano</a>

A very nice orchestrated piece - <a href='http://www.ocremix.org/detailmix.php?mixid=OCR00724' target='_blank'>Farewell Star Guardian from Super Mario RPG</a>.

Those are just my reccomendations from OCRemix.org... If you want just pure "modern classical" i highly reccomend James Swearingen and Ed Huckeby.
