<div class="IPBDescription">My ISP blocking BT packets...?</div> <a href='http://www.broadbandreports.com/forum/remark,12687503~mode=flat~days=9999' target='_blank'>My ISP blocking BT packets!</a>
What the hell? I knew i was having problems with BT (i use Bittornado) i checked the good ole BBR forums, and sure enough, theres a 14 page discusssion on my ISP blocking bt packets. Does anyone know a way around this? So far, nobody has found a surefire way around it. This is total crap!

QFT! I have them too, with 4mbit down and 375kbps up ... w00h00!

Sucks to have OOL though, switch to another ISP if you need torrents that bad...
That said, try contacting them and seeing what their reason is for their action.
I was actualy getting a simmilar problem before...
I jsut changed my ports and I can suddenly use BT again..
so <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

i think he means the 375KBPS sorta equals ~40kBPS which is what i have also.. gotta watch for the kapital k's!
the bt blocking is just dumb -_- i blame the **AA <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
ah yeah, and some isps monitor it by ports... like thansal said.. i never use bt with default ports since it doesnt matter which ports it uses...
"3 MBPS DOWNSTREAM!? ZOMG" when in reality it's 0.375 megabytes down. That happened to me once D:
8 bits in a byte.
EDIT: Er... Back on topic... That's pretty iffy right there, are they the only broadband ISP in your area? I'd switch pretty quickly if I were in your position, especially considering I don't normally use BT for illegal things (game demos and preview videos X: )
Yeah go talk to them, then flip them the bird when they tell you they aren't changing it.
Oh don't forget... Us forumites smoke while we flip the bird. t('.')y=~
And they have a complete monopoly over broadband here in Oklahoma. It's either go w/ Cox for cable speed, or go w/ the sometimes SLOWER than 56K DSL service...
I want a T1. :(
Changing ports doesent work (they already tested it in that thread) it seems like CV is sending fake packets too the clients that makes it seem like the upload/download is done, and making the torrent terminate itself...
As soon as <a href='http://www22.verizon.com/FiosForHome/channels/Fios/HighSpeedInternetForHome.asp' target='_blank'>Verizon FIOS</a> hits my block, im going to make every effort to convince my parents to switch (shouldnt be too hard, they hate my cable company, we pay over $140 in service for them for digital cable, phone, and internet).
Get ready for cablevision to come and eat them up...
...no seriously, cablevision has some dirty tricks up its sleeve. Just look at what they did too the west side stadium (Do you know one of the two people who voted it down had his son as an executive in CV?) <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

In that case I might have to pull out the 'ol AK and do some convincing.
But its not that simple, there dropping the packets along the line, it doesent matter what port i use.

What, they're sniffing the packets to see if they <i>are</i> bittorrent and are dropping them if so? I find that difficult to believe.

Did you read the link in my first post?
You dont have to read all of it, but long story short, <i>yup</i> there sniffing out the packets and dropping them.
I wish it was that simple, the only other viable ISP in my area is Verizon DSL, and i dont want to make the major downgrade in speed (i would be going from 10/2 to 3/.768) <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
FIOS is coming, though.

No I didn't.
