<div class="IPBDescription">Whats yours like?</div> (Hopefully this isn't a spam topic...It just seems to be all the craze lately.)

Well, after spending so much time trying to get that previous computer to work, I gave up on it and took some of the spare parts and bettered my computer. It is a fairly old rig... running on nearly 4-5 years old now..I think.

Specs:
Pentium 4 1.5 ghz
250mw PSU
256 mb PC133 ram stock, upgraded to 768.
Seagate 40gb HDD stock, added Quantam Fireball 40gb.(Stolen from non-workings)
CD/RW Drive stock, CD drive stock. Replaced the CD drive with DVD drive. (Stolen from non-workings.)
On-board Nvidia graphics, 16mb stock. Upgraded to Geforce 5700 LE with 128mb.
Fan on the back of the case added. (Stolen from the non-workings PSU.)

Everything else is fairly basic... integrated LAN, 4 USB ports, wireless keyboard and non-wireless Microsoft Intellimouse. Beauty displayed on a nice 21' CRT moniter. Pics of case below for eye candy. (Take notice of my MacGuyvering of the stolen fan's wires. I combined wires from the non-workings heatsink and PSU fan using ziplock bags and ducttape.) (I had no electrical tape.)

<a href='http://myweb.cableone.net/rtmm1977/mikes/mine1.jpg' target='_blank'>And then me</a>
<a href='http://myweb.cableone.net/rtmm1977/mikes/mine2.jpg' target='_blank'>And finally, me.</a>

I'm in the process of building a new computer... although slowly. College income is meager.

What about you guys? (I mean an in-depth description of the rig, like mine. Not just a quick listing of the stuff. =p)

Main computer now pentium 4 2.4c at 2.7 GHz(1:1 memory divider, ~3.2 GHz with 5:4 divider ran slower for anything I cared about) with relatively cheap 1024 MB twinmos RAM at 2.5 - 3 - 3 - 6 timings. Asus p4c800 motherboard. Radeon 9800 pro(128 MB version with a relatively quiet OTES cooler).

I have ti4200 that I use when I know I won't be playing anything but HL for the forseeable future(nVidia's openGL drivers are a LOT better with old school openGL games that run in immediate mode, but the ti4200 is weak, a little AF and 1024x768 is about what it can take in HL without becoming the bottleneck).

Actually I was talking to a guy at work about this recently, it struck me that when I removed my 8x8x32 CDRW there is now nothing left of the first computer I ever built myself. I've just constantly "upgraded" as long as you count a new case mobo and CPU as an upgrade rather than a new PC <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    I started with:
    AMD K6 500
    256mb RAM
    SIS 6320 32mb Gfx Card
    20gig HDD
    8x8x32 CDRW
Some MSI mobo that I can't remember with onboard sound
A groovy green iMac ripoff case

4-5 Years later and many many upgrades later I have
    AMD Athlon 2500+ o/c to 2gig
    1.5gig of RAM
    Radeon 9800Pro 128mb
2x120gig and 1x300gig *mb Cache HDD
    Dual Layer DVDRW
    Asus A7N8X-X Mobo
A groovy case with tricked out disco lighting.
