Do not buy an expensive car. If you do, you're an idiot. Either you will wreck it or some idiot at your school will hit you and wreck it.

    Buy Japanese.

Honda, Toyota, or if you've got a bit of cash, an older model Lexus or Acura.

RX7s are wonderful cars, but yes... they do have their problems. They're two-seaters, the rotary engine designs EAT gas (15-22mpg), and the apex seals usually go before too long.

The last actually isn't that much of a problem... it costs a lot once, but after that the engine is good to go for up to/over 200,000 miles, if you get the new-materials Apex. Good weight distribution, an utter blast to drive along a twisty road (especially with a good suspension setup)... but NOT for someone who's on a budget. Sports cars never are.

Never rule out the venerable Crown Vic.

You'd probably looking at something from around 1994, and they average about 20MPG (24+ on the highway) but they also last.

First police run the hell out of them, then taxi services buy them up and run them even more. Should easily go over 150,000 miles. Just make sure to get a non-ford tagged counterpart so you don't get an old taxi or cop car.

They float a bit, but the pillow soft suspension makes even railroad tracks seem like a gentle bump. Very comfortable to ride in, a little tricky to drive with the uber-power assisted steering.

Insurance costs would be better, too.

I like my 1990 Nissan Maxima SE. Bought it for $1600, ran great with originally 180k miles. I put 1.5k miles on it in 2 months, still runs great. I like the way it looks too, alot of my friends love the car. When I bought it, the only things wrong with it was the windshield wipers were broken (connection came off from the inside) and the fenders were rusted out (I fixed that in a hour, as you see ) and I personally think its a great car. Stock rims are ugly though, once you get rid of those, the car will look pimpin. Add some matching color lights to the inside (all my inside is awesome with black/green), a neon lisence plate frame, lights for your hood, and (if allowed where you life) LED underglow (I can get you some, full kit for $60 bucks off ebay, led is better it wont go out on you) with colored parking lights really bring out the car. All that can be done for about $600-1000 depending the price on the rims. Lights alone wouldent cost any more than $200.

Its good on gas, especially for a V6 engine, mines got high miles on it but it still runs great. Alot of my friends at work drive maximas (its really weird) and we all say they drive great. If you can find one with some slight body damage for cheap, I'd say buy it, bondo is up really good, paint it, and do all that work i listed above and you couldent be happier with a car

Spend $2500 on everything, and your set \o/

    some reviews to read
