Freezeups During Gameplay?

I've been having a lot of freezing lately with NS whilst in the middle of a game. My computer is relatively new (HP), but the video card isn't very good. Is it just my video card or is there something else I can do to fix this problem?

Are they momentary freezes, or do you have to either kill NS from ctrl+alt+del or reboot?
what are the specs on your system.
Once you clarify on the type of freezes ill be able to help more.
