<div class="IPBDescription">Saturday August 13th</div> Before we start looking for a location, we want to make sure we will have enough people. Sound off here, as well as any friends you can bring who don't have a forum account. Day has been chosen, time and location will come.

There's a Vancouver, Washington that is 200 miles in the opposite direction. Heh.
Actually it doesn't really matter, I'll still go if it's in either, depending on who's going to be there.

I don't care what decisions are made as long as they are made and communicated and we can know what to expect. No surprises, please.
I can re-post this in a couple forums to draw more traffic, but i'm sure some from the OldF community will be interested.
As far as location, it can easily be the last two we considered, either DMZ cyber cafe or the lanshop in SFU.
The owner from DMZ was very friendly, and I belive if we can get enough people coming, we may may be able to get the same rate of a noon-midnight for $15!
DMZ was also very accessible...it was in New West minisher, where kingsway turns into 12th street.
I don't remember anything too special about the SFU place.
But yeah I would be totally into it if we can get enough people coming.
The more people we can fill in a lanshop, the more fun we will have, and the better pricing we will attain!
Edit: Sorry Rek, I didin't intend to steal your thread from you, if you wish to do the investigations, or know of other good locations, please feel free to add/take over.
Talk to your friends and co-works people, lets try to make this 16, maybe even 20 or more!
I'll phone DMZ and that UBC (not sfu doh!) cafe today(if they're open) and find out the prices and what other games are available.
If they're open.
Spread the word as much as possible. ~20 would be a great number, even more if possible.
- Saturday, August 13th
- 12pm - 12am
- If we get a group rate, and it is at DMZ, ~$16 per person (extra $1 for ded server cost, split among all), snacks + food extra
- You cannot bring your own comp, but you will be able to modify your game as much as you want (I would suggest making a rar of all your configs, sprites, models, etc and burning it)
I think DMZ is the best choice for a location. It's not very central, but easily accessible by public transpo, cheap group rate, a number of pizza places/restaurants nearby and computers provided.
Fricking nazis.

Theres the lions lair on granville and helmecken, downtown... it has about 25 computers, pretty good. im not sure about prices or anything, ill try and check it out later.
And yes, you can alter your binds, but you cant copy your own configs, which means rates, scripts, tracers, anything like that.

So, for a refresher and some other details:
We will be doing this on <b>August 13th</b>.
We will be lanning here:
<img src='http://www.604dmz.com/images/index_map.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
This is DMZ internet cafe, they will be providing the computers (<b>this is not a BYOC event</b>), which are 28 in total!
Yes, we will have HL1 mods awaiting us (including the latest version of ns of course!), Plus many, many other current games including some LOTR games and the mighty battlefield series (I'm not sure if they have BF2 available)!!!
Apparently transportation is quite simple, you just get off at the edmonds skytrain station and take the 112 bus all the way there, or drive of course.
No, we can not install software due to security issues. Sorry, no copying of scripts, rates, tracers etc. from your config.
The rates? We can play from noon saturday till midnight for only $15!!!!
Make sure to bring some extra moola for food and server rental ($15 divided between how many people come). If you do not want to stay for 12 hours, there are other great rates available.
I do, however, need to know who is going and how many ASAP in order to let the owner of DMZ know so he knows how many people should be on staff.
So what do you guys think? I'm all for it! what time do we want to do this? Is noon till midnight ok for everyone!!!
The owner would also like to stress that there is restaurants aplenty near his lan
shop.
Now for a list of what to bring and what to not bring (thanks to grepdashv for the original list):
Make sure to bring:
*$15 plus extra for food, transportation, and server rental
*headset/headphones, to help cut down on ambient noise factor
Do not bring:
*Computer and related peripherals(excluding headset/headpones, everything else is provided)
*Any software period. No games, configs, hacks, picture of tubgirl, nothing(at least none that will be loaded on DMZ's computers <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> )
* alcohol
* drugs
* a bad attitude
So here's what I need from all those coming, absolute confirmation that you will be there, and your first name!
I will start the list:
1. Joe (Faust)
Note: If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me, and I will find out for you.
Dave (Florp)
Although I think you'd do better to pick a date in September or something similar, people need all KINDS of advanced notice to be able to actually commit to something.
Even the FFT lan turned out to be 4 guys when I got there, until grep made some threatening phone calls and moogle and his crew showed up. THAT one was planned 4 months in advance, heh.
If I'm not working I can go. Although to be honest I hope I'm working, overtime on sautrdays is very very good <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I'm out on this, sorry.
<i>Does it really matter if you can't run your scripts?</i>
I thought we were just gonna sit back and have a good time, not a intense cal omega match???
Besides, can't IE view txt files directly anyway? just host yours on a webserver somewhere, and copy paste it in your config.
Better yet, copy your config into a email, and send it to yourself. Then access it at the lanshop and copy/paste it in.
No biggie.
