run for the hills!
/me is happy\ i've learned how to make glorious headcrab cannisters fall from the heavens, let loose the armored personel carriers unto the land............ and made thunder and rain bless those ravaged rebels.

Its not much, but i've had loads of fun using hammer.

w00t! Cant figure out how to use displacement tool though :\

I've included an apc map and one crabcan map
*the apc map has rappeling metrocops too.*
Yes the apc does move.

Have fun!

::edit:: added screenies and vmfs ::edit::

    No pic no click.

And as a general good idea, don't post your maps until after you spend a decent amount of time and effort into making them pretty.

we're all happy for you, but this is the wrong forum. there is a separate one for releasing your map work, although you'll probably get a lot of "constructive" critisism there if you did a crappy job. and you might want to let people know what game/mod this is for. from the sounds of it, it's for HL2

These aren't ns maps, therefore, this is the correct place. Plus, mappers are arrogant conceded asshats, esp. ns mappers

I'm trying to shelter this 2Dd from their constructive critisism, some can't take it, and it's been known to cause massive outbursts of violance.

That being said, I've been known to say not nice things about maps that don't meet my eyecandy standards.

yes, it's for hl2. But like what i said, these aren't much. Just for people who'd want to start to map for hl2 :\ Dont make such a fuss! have fun

::edit:: bah sorry its in mat_fullbright i'll put in some lights and maybe some rain ::edit::

::edit 2:: for now, the dev textures are the best to suit the map, sorry.

I'll try to be nice... really, I may fail though...

It's just boxes... with no textures, and some props...

You are learning, good for you, but trust me, people are not impressed by pics like that. They have special meaning to you because you made them, like I said, good for you, please practice more, and make better maps...

    dm_killbox ftw!

Thanks. I'll texture it, but like isad i said the dev textures suits the map the best.

The best advise I can give you now is not to touch that map again. Start over anew and try to make something from the get-go.

A good exersize would be for you to attemp to remake your house, inside and out, then the houses surrounding yours, but maybe only the exterior, just to familurize yourself with the editor a little better and to teach you to make more complicated geomitry.

Learn to use the cut and vertex tools, they're handy.

Making boxmap after boxmap will get you nowhere. I tell you this as a favor.

Congrats on your learning, and do keep at it. However, nobody wants to play a square box map. Nobody wants to see pics of it either. They aren't going to want to see your second map either. Or your third.

I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just telling you the truth. Do keep learning, and when you get good at mapping (in 1 or more years) please do make full, complete, textured, and lit maps, and then share them with the world.

I keep trying to learn how to map.

I usually start by deciding what I want to build and then building it, but then I get stuck when I come to something I can't do and can't find out how to do no matter where I look. Then I get sick of mapping for another 6 months.

Is it because the map is a big hollow box?

Yeah I tried mapping before. It was something that I wanted to try out. So I was trying to create a NS map. Then after 3-4 hours of trying to make the map, I thought it was a waste of time . Since I got bored of NS, and pretty much, most FPS type games.

Yeah I gave up when I couldn't line up textures at all, way back when.

Maybe I should give it another go? I have source now.

    QFT.

Especially the last line as people just can't take harsh criticisms and don't realise their taste isn't everyone elses.
