Constant Crashes In Hl2
<div class="IPBDescription">Steam forums suck</div> Okay so basically I just upgraded my old computer (P4 2.4ghz) to a 3200+. Since then, HL2 is ALWAYS crashing! Here is the error I get:
<img src='http://img283.imageshack.us/img283/8316/wth2xt.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
I've tried adding the larger heapsize command and that does nothing. Does anyone else have this problem?

Man I tried googling the error but I'm not really getting anything. Mullet, the best I can suggest to you now would be a reinstall. That or just messing around with your settings.
@Thansal: Nah well I'm just messing with you anyway. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> At least you're not as horrible as Dragonmech, who feeds off the New Player forum for extra posts.

No idea WTH the problem is.
I had this same thing: Its the new NVidia drivers. Roll back- they broke mine too. Well, you are on NVidia, right?
It's either a memory leak or it's something to do with how your computer loads models and meshes and textures.

Ive updated all other drivers, checked my RAM, Reinstalled HL2 several times, checked the chache via steam, and searched steam forums for 3 days.
I had exactly the same problem when i installed new ram.
My board gave them 2.7V although they were built for 2.5V
and as you can think, they didn´t like being toasted thuis producing exactly the same error as the one you posted.
You bios options should give you this knowledge somewhere.
If thats not the problem you can reun a free ramtester, to see if anything is hardcore broken
i found <a href='http://hcidesign.com/memtest/' target='_blank'>this one</a> very good, yet easy to use

We've confirmed its NVidia.
Mullet: I rolled back and experienced no degredation in graphics. Did you even play it on the ol' drivers?
Yes it sucks.

Really, you get the same problem? Hmm. Maybe its not NVidia exclusive. But rolling back my drivers fixed it...

What drivers are you using then? I can't find a link to old ones <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I believe their the ones on the NVidia webpage.
Edit: No, no its not. But it looks like NVidia released some not long ago...
