already have
- reinstalled nvidia drivers for my geforce2 mx
- reinstalled half life
- reinstalled ns

what now?

reinstalled steam, with complete new driver install plus hl and ns (reloaded installer + wiped each cache avaible on this pc)

Install the drivers previous to the version that caused NS to throw it's rattle.
If someone sends to an nvopengl.dll file, then chances are it will conflict with your current driverset

All previous nVidia driversets can be found <a href='http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?id=10' target='_blank'>here (Link to Guru3d.com)</a>, search for the version you need, and install them. Be careful though, as they list drivers for every single version of Windows, and it isn't very clear at times...

update: Reinstalled windows, same problem as before.

Whats your gfx card? Looks like its having issues rendering in opengl.
