Guerilla Fades

<div class="IPBDescription">When aliens get pesky</div> In a recent game, me and my fellow marines were doing a fine job of owning pretty much everything, except there were always a group of fades harassing us. They'd cross in and out of door ways, lobbing acid rockets at us and our structures and we just couldn't kill the damn things. If we fired grenades at them, they'd blink away. If we went down and tried to get in their faces, they'd just chop the crap out of us. We wasted a ton of time welding and rewelding one another and we rarely killed any of the fades, no matter how many times we returned fire at them. Even the commander was making fun of us for being such **obscenity**. What can you do to stop a gang of guerilla fades like that?

    I would very much like to hear this, too. This usually happens in mid-to-late game, so most marines are elsewhere doing their jobs, and we can't send a squad of five marines to hunt them down. One guy welds, while another two (that's at least three marines tied up becuase of one or two aliens) goes to hunt them down. Both usually die under the fade's furious clawing, but rarely one is able to stay alive long enough to kill them. I can't think of any other way.

    One of the only things I can suggest is that you build a Siege turret nearby, that will destroy any Defense Chambers that may be healing them, ultimately it'l come down to a combined team action of heavy armour (if you have it) and welders or even a few marines with LMGs to go and flush em out! I really wish I could help you, AFAIK, the worst thing to do is sit and wait for them, especilly if they have have bile bombs.

    The best way requires CO-ORDINATION, gety two teams Clearance and Support

    have support givefire at the fades as they enter the room and then have Clearance follow the fades as they retreat (it is assumed that they have been waiting out of the range of acil rockets/bile bombs) and then hopefully you should be able to flush the beggers out, It's one though out of many!

    Its also bad if they get a good foothold on your base entrance. Like if a gorge build some offence chambers and a ton of defence chambers near there even with a seige its almost unbeatable. I have done this myself I built alot fo chambers infrom of the marine base then I harrased them constantly with bile bomb or acid rocket. They built like two seige turrets and they could not even blow one up infact some of the buildings lost all health but remained active.

    here's how we (me and one other person) held them off.

    each person gets the same equip:
    HMG
    Welder
    heavy armor

    stand outside the doorway with HMGs ready. once ONE comes across the doorway (this only really works well if they only have one way to camp behind the door) you follow him, both HMGs blazing like madmen. concentrate all fire on them. once he leaves you alone, rush out like madmen to a safe spot to weld each other, then run in again. unless they have like 5 defense chambers they're not gonna heal as much as you did.

    rinse, repeat.


    this held them off (for me and the other guy) for 15 minutes or so, until our team finally got the picture and we rushed them with like 4 guys.

    I believe I was one of those fades, we kept leaving the doorway to go back to the 3 defense chambers that our team had built, so we were constantly at 200 HP just spamming your base.

    yah... late in the game what i do is
    1. evolve into a gorge
    2. build like 3 def chambers
    3. build 2 more on top of those
    4. evolve into a fade
    5. learn Carapace, Adrenaline, and Cloaking
    6. Hit and run <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    i do this in everygame with my friend and so far it works like a charm

    Try and bate the fade into a trap is all I can think off at the moment (it's 4am and I just finished and 3 hour game) this managed to work for us. It was eclipse I think, the map with the two double doors at the marines base. Anyway there were 2 fades at the left door "run up to door until it opens then shooting bile bombs into base run back and cloak etc" the way we managed to take them out was to re-route 2 heavy armour guys with heavy mg and grenade launcher and one guy with a jetpack and lmg through the teleporter to the maintanance chamber which we had only just taken and have them camp near to the defensive and offensive chambers that the fades were using to heal, which the guy with the jetpack was able to find when he saw the fades head back there (the aliens had loads of these groups of chambers set up all over the place). Then we allowed to fades to attack at will without us attacking them for a few minutes to try and make them think they were wearing us down and that they were winning, then we through everything in the base at them to injure them as much as we could and send them running back to their defensive chambers which once there they cloaked but the guys in the heavy armour knew where they were and were able to kill one of them and force the other one back to his hive cos he had redemption <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo--> It got them off our back and enabled us to claw our way back into the game not bad considering the aliens had 3 hives set up and were attacking us with onos at one point.


    I think though that trying to out think the fades would be your best bet, force them to react to you rather than you reacting to them. Try and get someone to attack a hive and draw the fades away to protect it. Even if you just send a lone marine with a jetpack and lmg to attack the hive; he probably won't hurt it much but for all the aliens know the hive could be under a major attack remeber when a hive it being attacked it doesn't say by what <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> this will force the aliens to react to what your doing to protect their hive heck you could even attack two at once this way and really put the frightners on the aliens giving you some valuble breathing space from which to then go on the offensive. Doing this enabled us to take the hive in the maintainance chamber and deny them the onos and many other key abilities.
