Lan Server Freezes On Join

Hi, I've been hosting a LAN server with bots to fool around with and the WhichBot and RCbot have worked great! The trouble is, when I try to get my brother to join from his computer it locks up my server which also means he can't join.
Does he need to also install the bots?
I'm not using Half-Life 1 with steam, I'm using the WON version, but I have no idea in hell why that would matter on a LAN game.
The server isn't dedicated either so I can play.
If there is any more information I can give you guys to help me with the problem just say so.
