I Need Help Connecting

I just installed NS and when I try to join a server a window pops and it goes out instantly, I have tryed it a lot of times and it wont work <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> I think it says: establishing connection to server.
