The Other Harry Potter Thread

Keep it Spoiler-free, please
Got it at 2:00 AM, finished it at 8:35 AM.
Her writing style changed again. Right now, it's set up so that the beginning and middle are more enjoyable than the ending, despite its rather shocking event. But the end is rather anti-climactic.
The best parts about this book were how it tied in with the older books, and all that is found in the beginning and middle.
It's pretty cool how Potter isn't as emo as he was in the fifth book.
Excellent read.

Too bad I read it, but at least others won't have to.
Man it killed me not to include spoilers...

He sure would LOL
Honestly, the way things were going with the fighting and animosity, you had to be totally blind to not see it coming.

I honestly do not care where the Harry Potter plots go, I'm coming along for the ride and Mrs. Rowling's amazing ability of creating truly magical settings. In so far, it's very easy for me not to see stuff coming.
I rather enjoyed the book, except the epilogue which was terrible.
Overall, the novel takes way too long to start, though, and after a while it just goes too fast, as if she was trying to cram the rest of the plot in a given page count. It's still a pleasant read, and frankly that's what books are for. Books like Crime and Punishment don't entertain and hurt my braincells. Sure, it's magnificently written and it's a masterpiece of literature, but I've been spending half the novel wondering "why the hell don't you take the Punishment already, I get the idea" whereas in Harry Potter, I've been turning page after page wondering "What will happen next?"
What I enjoyed is that, while certain things were very obvious, there were still shockers here and there.
Freaking two years.
I am sorry to say so, but this thread is just not good enough to justify a revive.
In fact, I just Searched Harry Potter, saw August 7, and decided to post here.
Well there is a new Harry Potter book, and having a two page thread makes it seem more of a discussion;o

Honestly I thought all of the comments in this thread applied equally well to the latest book, IMO anyway.

Agreed. The only reason I realized it was a necro'd thread is that Nem0 had posted in it.
