City of heroes on and off. About 4 months in total if you count time spent on the U.S servers before it was released over here. Mostly because I want a decent level character when COV comes out, which will rock incidentally.

I hope they patch that soon, it's just too much work.
I've been playing Maple Story for about a month now. Nice game, but severe lack of quests. I have a 2-month subscription to WoW that's slowly burning away. I lost interest it it.
to get right to your question... I played both WoW and SWG, and WoW was ridiculously fun til I got to level 60, but I got bored at that point. I felt like I was no longer making progress. sure, I could continue to collect equipment and whatnot, but it just felt like a dead-end so I left it. I find myself missing my days of SWG now... the fun was less 'concentrated' - that is, an hour of SWG wasn't usually as fun as an hour of WoW - but in the long run, it felt more expansive and I didn't get bored of it as quickly. it takes a long time to train up all your skills, and I never even got close to Jedi, which takes like 10 times more work to get decent at than the normal professions...
in summary, WoW was really fun til I got a char or two to lvl 60, then I got bored. SWG was a little less fun but lasted longer.
Hum.. Wouldnt the new expansion pack add any more length to wow? (pvp) and star wars sounds good and all but im not the most patient of people. I might go down and buy it give it a wizz i still got some vouchers i meant so many people play wow it must be okay? And star wars seems brill but i dont even know if i can be arsed i mean im bored so thats why it might be good to play wow but star wars it would be good to look at my fella and say wow look he has a small empire ARGHh i dont know we will see go down town and have some coffee and think.. The GM's in Life can only suggest nerfing. It's up to the people to comply to this nerf or not. Unfortunately, being banned from the Freedom server and forced to play on the Incarceration server sucks from the reviews I've read.
Not to mention the whole perma-death thing. I'm not even sure if they allow you to restart your character from scratch. Every single person is such a bloody good hardcore RP'er in this game... they all refuse to tell me.
Character customization sucks, too. You are stuck with crap given to you by a random generator. I got this geeky little Cyber Nerd looking body. Name ain't half-bad though.
I played both WoW and SW:G, and i'd say go with WoW.
On the whole, WoW is a lot more immediate. You get straight into the game with little hassle, the direction and flow of the game is good, it looks pretty and it's very easy to dip in and out of whenever you like. WoW does, however, suffer from being a little restrictive, small and has less variety in the end, but the experience is fun, as is PvP. The quests are pretty much the same as any other MMO, the usual kill such and such, collect this and that and deliver soandso here. The game is, however, pretty combat orientated.
SW:G, on the other hand is far more expansive and in depth. The planets are each huge and can take a good deal of time to cross. However, the small problem with this is that generally there's bugger all there. The planets are all as bland and boring as each other, and given their immense size, crossing somewhere like tattooine you will see nothing but sand for miles around. With SW:G i found the quests to be painfully repetetive. The majority of quests i did were for the Imperials and you'd travel for 10 minutes to destroy the same 3 enemies in a random location and the flag they're with, and then return. Even the "theme parks" and such turned out to be very poorly executed and boring. One massive feature i loved about SW:G was that you didn't generally have to fight anything to get ahead, as you did in WoW. I was a dancer, that's right, i was one of the many Twi'lek's inside Mos Eisley's cantina dancing for cash. /flourish 5. It was fun, met a lot of people, earned tips and items. Also, the character customisation is fantastic, there's so many choices and sliders to tweak that you can pretty much guarentee you won't be identical to another player, and ontop of that, the clothing in the game was massively varied. With the addition of the roleplay (Which wasn't enforced) it was a really fun experience to be involved in the Star Wars universe.
So in short....
WoW pros:

Easy to get into

Immediate action

Next to no loading times, and what there is are short.

Detailed environments

Good graphics

Good variety of classes and abilities

PvP is fun as hell

Both the option to vendor items and trade with other players

WoW cons:

A lot of the community are idiots

Not as indepth as other MMO's

Mostly combat focused (Or is that a pro?)

Griefers are still an issue, see first con

Not being in a big guild can cause problems in the endgame

There's a number of issues, bugs, lag, and stuff, and Blizzard don't seem to care half the time

Character creation is limited and when it gets to the endgame, everyone's after the same equip and look samey

Auction houses are few and far between

Ironforge + Orgrimmar

No player owned housing yet

Irritating mailing system

SW:G pros:

Immersive

Fantastic universe, backstory, etc etc

Absolutely HUGE

Excellent character customisation

Not combat focused

Player owned houses, vehicles and player run towns and cities

Playerbase isn't anywhere near as annoying as WoW's

Excellent player run economy

Immense variety of items / weapons of every type and colour

Useful and fast mailing system

SW:G cons:

High specs given that the game doesn't look that great

Bland environments

Repetetive quests

Much slower progress

Bad case of macro botting

PvP pretty much non-existant (In months of playing, never had any at all, is it even in there?)

Lack of vendors to earn cash outside of the player market

Horrible loading times (Or so i experienced, at least)

I've probably missed a ****-ton of other pros and cons, but those are all i can think of at this time. I had a lot of fun in SW:G, but most of that came from my dancing career and interacting / roleplaying with other players, but WoW is giving me my fast paced PvP fix and is proving massive amounts of fun. If i come into more money, i'll probably pick up playing SW:G again one day, but as i can only afford one right now, WoW it is.

Wow: Need to resubscribe this week... Not sure tough since I'm a little bit fed up with the instances... You join with a team and sometimes when you've made some progress people leave. Excuses variating from needing sleep or going for another game. I mean is it that hard to say something before you start the instance!!!
Haven't gotten into this pvp stuff, even if I do have a rogue and play on a pvp server, so maybe theres a reason to resubscribe. Well I did do some duel's vs the enemy and allies or the usuall defending myself against players who wanted to kill me. I must say that was a very fun experience, so maybe theres a reason to renew my subscription. Also my friend, whom which I play most online games with, asked me to stay in wow
Lineage2: Only played beta, but didn't like it that much. To much grind and not enough immersion
City of heroes: Beta only. I mean come one I got this rig here "3800+AMD64 venice with a 850XT". And this looked worse then gta3 on playstation. Also I didn't like the gameplay at all.
[edit=addition City of heroes] K if you're into "I wanna be suppah hero" kind of thing. This game is acutally the game for you. The thing I am pretty impressed with is the almost endless custumisation of you're character. No clones in this game
I'm not exactly a hardcore gamer. I don't even have access to "Advanced jobs" (you have to take one of the original jobs to 30 in order to unlock them) and only TODAY got my Kazham Airship pass. The game is an easy step into the world of MMOs-it mirrors many things similar to the Final Fantasy universe but suffers from set-backs that can be dealbreakers (if you don't have a job people want, you can be looking for group for a looooong time. If you don't have 4+hours to devote to the game per session you will get nowhere. If you don't have a powerful linkshell driving your early game successes you will "lag behind" everyone you've ever PT'd with. Starting so "late" in the game will mean everybody else will have the good gear and the cash which you will so desperatly notice is hard to get at low levels. Other "bad generic MMO problems")
Mostly it's "you have to group to do ANYTHING in this game." If you have friends playing it can be fun, otherwise it isn't worth it.
Go with WoW-you don't need to devote 8 hours a day to get anywhere in it, and you won't even feel the time go by. And when you get bored with it? Change jobs, or play another MMO and figure out why WoW is a lot better than it. I personally am waiting for "Hero classes, etc." to be implemented before I start playing it. No point in paying for Open Beta.
WoW - been playing ever since beta i have 5 level 60 characters now and another level 38 Asheron's call - played it for about 3 years straight had alot of characters maxed out Asheron's call 2 - played for a couple months i didnt like the "only player built economy" Anarchy online - played it for about a year didnt get too into it EvE online - played the beta for a couple months neocron - played the beta for a few months Everquest - played for about 4 years Everquest 2 - played for a month didnt realy like it Dark Age of Camelot - played for about 8 months nice solid game Shadow Bane - played for a couple months Earth and Beyond - played for about 7 months City of heros - played for about a year star wars galaxies - played for a couple months didnt like it Lineage - played for about a year realy fun game Lineage 2 - played for about 8 months Guildwars - played on my brothers account for a couple weeks didnt like it
Hum both sound great I in some ways looking towards sw:g becuase its a great playerbase i remeber a while ago i was in a free trial and i asked for some money and he gave me a pet and 500,000k or some amouth large enough for me to have a car and be able to afford a house (couldnt with free trial) star wars seems a nice comunity even if it seems slightly empty and im not sure about expansion pack but in some ways i would be pulled to a comunity than a good mmo il see whats about ..

K if you're into "I wanna be suppah hero" kind of thing.
