Skulks And Dodging.

Large amounts of me getting shot.
I read some of the webbed documents, one of which said that skulks are not tanks. Go figure.
But aside from that, I'm really curious of the precise specifics of how skulks can most effectively dodge in combat. I can kill stuff ok but it doesn't feel substantial or stable, it feels like there's a lot of luck involved and I hate that.
Can anyone help?
Thanks.

Haven't read any other posts, but i'm guessing the all say BUNNYHOP, i'm sure you've seen it done half-assed-style on publics, it's basicly jumping up and down... I'm sure there's demos around, and there's some websites i've saw which include the mouse movements.
To test if you're bunnyhoping right once you think you've mastered it, create your own listen server, type; sv_cheats 1 and cl_showspeed 1, that was you'll see if the top left how fast you're going aim to have that at around 500+ once you can keep that steady, you've learnt hwo to bunny

This doesn't answer your question, but I'm willing to bet that when you get into close range with an enemy you hold down your attack button and swing the mouse around wildly, hoping to connect. A good marine will simply jumpstrafe backwards and giggle while you bite air -- killing you easily. Don't be too hard on yourself; bitespamming is a frequent bad habit even for people that have played the game for a long time.
I don't know if you've played lots of FPSes or not, but here's a better way to think about it. The skulk bite is an automatic rifle that kills in 4 shots tops. Watch good CS players and you will see that holding down attack is the fastest way to get yourself killed. Instead, spend your time aiming at the marine and only bite when he crosses the center of your screen. If you bother to try aiming you'll get quickly better just for paying attention.
Ok, so if you can kill marines when you get in close (three bites per marine being preferable and excellent), actually getting to the marine is a trivial excercise, not at all something I would put on the same level of "skill" as aiming (in that, with aiming, there's no way to "reason" or "think" your ability higher). As said above, skulks rely on ambushing. Good skulks can usually bunnyhop, of course, but good marines can easily kill bunnyhopping skulks, so bunnyhopping doesn't make you a good skulk.
meep, in your post (which I think is very appropriate to what I'm doing right and wrong) you said that you can't get better at aiming by reasoning or 'thinking your ability higher'.
I tend to overthink things on occasion.. Could you elaborate on what you mean?
PS: Waller, in regard to bunnyhopping, do you mean 500 with or without celerity? I'm also curious as to what a reasonable amount of hops to shoot for (to accel to 500) would be?

Aiming, especially in NS, is a split-second affair. A skulk bites twice a second and you can shoot 6 pistol bullets or around 8 lmg bullets in a second, therefore it stands to reason that one v one battles in NS are usually over in a couple of seconds (and this is seen to be true in game). And conscious thought is on the order of whole seconds. So that's what I mean when I say you can't really "think your ability higher." The only way to improve your skill is to rely on reflex.
The most effective thing i have come across is to wait till the marine is near a wall then bite the marine once, run up the wall holding back and bite him while running up. No one predicts this and if you can aim they will die very fast.
Meep, you can never stop improving in NS. NS is about aim and reflex to some extent but is mostly about knowledge of the game, experience, and being smarter than your opposition.

without
the amount of hops is between 2 and 5 i guess depending on how much youve practiced it
Where did I say otherwise?
Thanks to you all again, you've been a lot of help.

If there is, I don't know it. The method that has worked for me has been simply paying attention to how I'm doing. The simple fact is that since I like NS, I played it, and since I played it I got better at it

Can you direct me to any of those demos/sites? I Couldnt find much about bunny hopping on my own.
