Freezing...

I keep getting a memory error whenever I run hl.exe. I'm able to play by moving the error box out of sight. If I press Send Error Report or Don't Send it will close the application... Also, occasionally (about every few minutes) anything running off of hl.exe will freeze, but nothing else will. I can still minimize and such, use other programs, etc... It takes about twenty seconds to un-freeze, but sometimes it freezes my entire system and I am forced to cut the power to my pc... Anyone else had this problem? Does anyone have any suggestions or guesses? If so, please post.

You can turn off error report sending in Windows:

Control Panel > System. Click the Advanced tab and click "Error Reporting" (at the bottom).

If youre sure its a memory error perhaps you could try running <a href='http://www.memtest86.com/' target='_blank'>Memtest</a> to check that your RAM is ok.

Alright, so I turned off Error Reporting... Thanks for letting me know about that... Do I need to burn anything to an iso boot cd for that Memtest?

If you have a floppy drive then you may as well use this and follow the on screen instructions. Otherwise, yeh you'll need to download <a href='http://www.memtest86.com/memtest86-3.0.iso.zip' target='_blank'>an ISO of memtest</a> and burn it to CD.
