<div class="IPBDescription">(why I'm so hyper.)</div> I thought some of you might like an explanation for <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=96733' target='_blank'>this.</a> (dorkity dork dork)

I had just drunk a big cup of bubble tea really fast, and more importantly, I got to see Nickel Creek performing songs from their new album at lunch!

(Amazon.com has events for their employees in which they invite in small time authors, musicians, et al. to perform or talk in small events with pizza. Nickel Creek is an exceptionally well known band by comparison to the usual acts.)

They passed out prerelease copies of the new album, and signed glossies for us.

This album is absolutely <b><span style='color:yellow'>AMAZING.</span></b>

For those not familiar with Nickel Creek, they are a bluegrass/alt pop/folk/unclassifiable band who (among other things) won some grammies last year. The trio are some of the best instrumentalists in acoustic music, particularly Chris Thile. I saw him solo in concert earlier in the summer, and he played 20 minutes of Bach on his mandolin! <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /><!--endemo-->

There are audio samples of the new album up on their <a href='http://nickelcreek.com/music.htm' target='_blank'>website</a>, as well as a music video. You can preorder the cd at <a href='http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0009ML2BU/qid=1122954631/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/103-1546320-5643853?v=glance&s=music&n=507846' target='_blank'>Amazon.com</a> and then hear an audio stream of the whole album.

These guys have become my absolute favorite band over the last few years. I've been to 5 of their concerts (including today's) and I think they are some of the funniest, most talented, and nicest people in the business. Check it out!
