<div class="IPBDescription">grrrrr</div> So now that Ive finally got my PC to recognise my default CD/DVD and CD writing drive again after is suddenly stopped detecting it its now screwing up elsewhere.

I try to open up cs:source so i can play some 1v1 against my friend. I start it up.

Steam sends me a window saying my video drivers are outdated.

I have a Geforce 3TI200. Yea its old but its never stopped me from playing CS:S or HL2, DOOM 3 etc with out any problems before.

So I try to play the game anyways, forwhat ever reason now suddenly, wen I get into a server everything freezes and goes horrendusly slow almost to the point of crashing..

So I go to nvididas site, and get the new most up to date drivers. I go install them, Now i cant even play the game.

I get a message

<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->failed to set Video mode- falling back to safe mode settings<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd--> everytime i try to start the game. Then after you press OK it tries to start the game up a second time and I get this message.

<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Failed to set video mode, this game has a minimum requirement of direct x 7 compatible hardware<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I have direct x 9 installed... and I havnt installed any new hardware or done any other drastic changes lately...

So whats going on? Any suggestions?

    This is how Jesus tells you that he doesn't love you anymore.

    What triggered the problem? Stuff like this doesn't happen when magic elves decide to stoelz ur megahurts, after all; something much have changed.

    Edit: Yeah, mobo drivers are always a fun place to start. God only knows how many problems you may inadvertently solve by updating or reinstalling motherboard drivers.

    Google for that message. I started getting it too, but I found somewhere a way to fix it. I forget what I did though.

    The exact same thing happened to my friend. It has to be some characteristic-specific problem, because I have almost basically the same setup as he has, and when I installed the drivers I was fine. Update all driver components before doing anything else to see if it was a mobo or other component problem. If not you can try some of the ForceWare drivers from Guru3D. Go to downloads and find the 77.56 WHQL ones and try those.

    Mantrid for the drives i basically jsut re connected all the cables

    update on my driver problem

    Rolled back to older outdated drivers. Game works fine until I enter a server running dust or dust 2 then for whatever strange reason my frame rate decides to die.

    oh well.
