Why does it look like all the pros miss?
Thanks in advance for your time.
When recording (and spec'ing) excellent players, it looks like they're firing way behind their targets (where the target just was) and missing, but the shots (obviously) hit, and often.
So my question is: Is this an illusion, or should I really fire a full body length (depending on move speed) behind - a skulk for instance - is that where the skulk's hitbox REALLY is?

Your best bet is to use HLTV, it will be able to keep up better, unfortunately, it's a flaw with spectating.
Or, they could just be faster than you.
If you don't mind, and as a follow-up question: should I lead, aim on, or aim behind an enemy?
I'm assuming lead, but I don't know.

The weaponry in NS, except the grenade launcher and the alien projectiles, are all hitscan. That means they hit instantly where the crosshair covers.
With the predictions system in half-life, you should only need to aim directly at a model to hit, disregarding a need to compensate for latency, but in practice, aiming at the back area of a model is best, as the prediction system seems to be somewhat meant for slower paced games.
Seeing marines aim behind skulks is a common thing on demos, but don't do it when you are playing.
I'm not too sure what's going on- maybe it's possible that other players are not shown with client prediction in a demo, but the player himself is?
(Incidentally, this is just my opinion. A lot of people blame rates for their deaths, and will encourage you to aim behind the target to register shots... Though I won't go further into this, I leave my "pro/non-pro aim" arguments on IRC )
