You should all know the drill by now. Question is, should we try and make a large "NS Donation" together? (Im thinking more, another $10k for Jack Thompson...) <!--emo&:)--><img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I'd actually recommend against adding another middleman to the distribution chain--while it would be cool to know how much the NS community has contributed, it's logistically difficult to manage collections without having a vendor take a cut of the total, and I'd rather not see agencies like PayPal taking a cut before the total is forwarded to the charity. If a vendor isn't used for collections, it can become a major hassle for someone to maintain the books and keep the money in a holding pattern.

The NS community could always keep a running total of the amount sent without actually being a conduit for the money--having people send email to a designated person who tallies up the results without needing to act as a cashier is a lot less effort, and you would still know how much the community sent even if it wasn't a lump sum; the important thing is the kids still benefit. <!--emo&:)--><img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
