    Scythes are cool.

I'm so making a Dervish. It'll be nice to stop being a Monk.

Yeah but with a monk, you're always guaranteed a group ^_^.

This isn't another $50 expansion, is it?

I think the GW business model is to produce updates periodically at retail game price ( with retail game content ) rather than the monthly subscription and periodic expansion pack route that other games of its ilk take.

Look at DDO vs GW. They are comparable games IMO, but the lack of a monthly fee for GW makes it much more attractive to me. I'll gladly buy a cd/dvd of content for GW every year or so.

When I compare the time/money I put into GW vs WOW, GW has definately worked out a lot cheaper. I haven't bought Factions yet but I'll probably do that soon.

Also, it was possible to just buy factions and play, which is an added bonus of full game updates vs expansion packs.

Yes, but which has more content?

I exhausted all of the content in GW in a week.

In WoW, I've exhausted what I estimate to be 3/5ths of its content, and still have a few alliance quests left, BWL, AQ40 and Naxxramas to go, as well as to get into the upper echelon(rank 11+) in PvP.

Edit: This isn't to say that Guild Wars sucks, or that their economic model isn't great- I like both. I'm just saying that really, the reason GW in my mind can survive with no subscription fee so easily is most likely because they don't provide free, new content near as often, or as completely engrossing, as WoW, or a competitor like CoH. But hey, a week of fun is still a week of fun. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

A week, you probably didn't do much beyond racing through the missions. The reason you have only gone through 3/5ths of WoW's content, is because you have to grind to see that content. You don't have to grind in Guild Wars.

Yeah, the grind in wow is what drove me away from it. I did enjoy wow for the most part, but in the end I couldn't justify the monthly fee for a game I could barely motivate myself to play once a month. Guildwars is perfect for me. I like once of fees.

on the note that you dont' have factions... i'll sell you mine... i dislike it and it's taken me far enough away from ns as i would permit... (it's a seperate account... i have a factions one and a prophecies one)

i know 'selling' acounts is violation of the t&a, but then again... tough...

True, the grind is pretty whicked, but even at 60, where the grind pretty much matches GW's(Grind PvP, Lite-Grinding Raids/High Level Content), the content swings in the favor of WoW.

And I still gotta say: GW's engine doesn't even feel comfortable with itself, which is oddly the main reason for me quitting it.

GWs PVE is just to prepare you for the high-end PvP, where the game really shines. Guild vs Guild, Hall of Heroes...

im one of those people who only own factions, and it really works...

the game convinced me(in pvp, that is) , and ill gladly pay 50 € for and expension i dont need to buy when there are no monthly fees for the game
thats the main reason for me not to play wow

except the many people that complain about the many things in wow <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

God forbid they let you prepare for high-end PvP with, you know, low-end PvP.

What do you think Random Arena, Team Arena and Alliance (sort of) are for?
