To be honest, while I like the change, I'm not so sure that many are gonna be so glad with it- and it leaves some questions for me:

Gibs? Comon. Charged Sniper Rifle = Best Fun Ever.

Rocket Jumping? Okay, maybe this is even more likely...

The Spy class looking completely ridiculous? Check.

And I so want to see the Medic's Syringe become a disposable item if need-be- I wanna plant that in someone's ###### and blow 'em away, watching it weigh 'em down as they fly XD

Personally, I was far more impressed by the portal trailer. The closest I got to excited about TF2 during this trailer was with the pyro's flamethrower effect, and until I see that "ingame" I'm going to stay skeptical that it'll look that good.

Of course if it *does* look good ingame I know exactly what weapon I'm going to beg for the most in NS:S <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

"All the footage shown in these trailers was created using Source. Some of the effects, namely depth of field and motion blur, were applied via post-processing features built into the Source engine technology."

    from planet halflife

from the sound of that, all the effects shown are effects seen in gameplay

which gives hope for ns ^^

w00t, I havent finished DLing the trailer yet, but from what I surmise it will be a lot more like TFC than its previous development path. It seemed like Valve was going for the gritty, large scale, open war with vehicles approach, ala BF1942. What probably happened, is they saw Desert Combat, and eventually BF2 filling their intended niche, and decided to take another development path.

I played TFC to a ridiculous degree, so I am really looking forward to TF2 becoming a reality. I was one of the few people to stick with the Pyro class, even to the point of making it effective in Clan play. I just hope they get the class right this time... As looking back, the other classes really were just better.

im interested if the same level of skill is needed for TFC2

Ditto. My thoughts exactly <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> On a side note, Team Fortress meets the Incredibles.

i gotta say, i'm loving the "evil genius" feel it has to it. that'll keep stuff like bunnyhopping and rocketjumping still looking cool. i don't know though, i think fortress forever's gameplay will turn out to be better.

I had fun the old days of TFC(never played TF1 though). Ehh, I'm not sure if I like the new looks yet, have to have some first hand experience.

I was boggling at the new design of TF2 when I first saw it, looks like the incredibles. Sure as hell wasn't what I was expecting compared to the screenshots they released waaayy back.

Anyway im looking foward more to Portals and NS:S

Right now I like the old look better, but I'll probably change my mind when I actually play TF2. It doesn't really make much of a difference anyway. But if NS had that kind of look, that would definately not work.

I think the new look is great <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" /> Back when TF2 was first announced with media, it looked interesting and new...but since then the idea has been done to death already. Two of Valve's other multiplayer Steam games already have the realistic combat approach to styling a game. TF2 now looks like a much cooler more characteristic extension of TFC <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" /> I'm looking forward to it.

To be honest, I love the new look. I'm glad they moved away from the "old" TF2 look, since that was too serious, and in my head Team Fortress has never been a particularly serious game. The trailer made me smile, as did the Portal one, only the Portal trailer also made me cry because I know I'll get amazingly confused playing it, and probably break my keyboard.

Also how come no one has commented on how well Valve can keep stuff secret? Half Life 2 is announced and it's like, BAM, nearly complete (or at least everyone at the time thought it was) after 4-5 years or whatever it was, with only rumours about it before the announcement. And since around 2001, everyone has thought TF2 had been canned and then BAM, again it's nearly out (isn't Episode 2 due for winter '06?) with no news of it before, and an entirely new look. That's some good stuff, yo.

I find the new look to be awesome, and a lot fresher than some bf2-resembling look. I cant wait to play portal either, the concept seems awesome, use your brains instead of your brawn to solve puzzles in a very new and different way.

Valve never cease to impress me, they surely are the game-company that sets the standard for all else.
