Just tried and it's pretty cool. Awesome graphics and effects and the guns and controls feel nice. I dont really like the DM mode, but the CTF mode is pretty fun.

I had a bit of a mixed bag experience.
It performs rather poorly on my machine, so I've had to turn down a number of settings. That usually means that the bullet ricochets & other effects during firefights cause too few objects to get rocked around by physics & too much dust to appear in the way of my view. It looks new and different at first, but eventually gives me a headache. Next time I play I'll try turning on v-sync and see if that helps my eyes.
Deathmach didn't impress me much (I'm just not the DM type of person) so I found a team DM server. Slowmo was off, but it was still a lot more fun. I'm guessing the clan who sponsored the server was using a teamspeak channel, because BOTH teams had groups of 3+ people moving together & roomclearing as an impromptu squad. I wasn't in on what they were saying, but moving together with my group felt a lot more fun than regular DM -- even if the best I could do was offer long-range grenade throwing support or twitch shooting rear defense with the shotgun.
I installed it and played it for most of the afternoon today. I'm really impressed with it, it looks great and it is pretty fun to play. I usually dont tolerate these "realistic" shooters, but it seems to have retained enough of the traditional fps gameplay (quake) to keep me happy - basically you dont need to crouch/go prone to get frags in this game like you do with other realistic shooters. The recoil is in there but the movment penalty doesn't seem to be too high, so you can hop around and fire away all you like while the CS croud tries to crouch in a corner and shoot you.
Some of the weapons need balancing though, people mostly seem to use nothing but the sub machine gun and that weird dart gun. I personally like the ASF(?) rifle, or the shotgun despite it being horribly weak. It could also do with some more maps, especially for CTF.
Get it if you haven't anyway, its a free game so you cant go wrong <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
It'd be a total blast if it wasn't for the amount of AR [ladies of ill repute]s out there.
But still, DM is fast paced as all hell, and it's still really satisfying to take down multiple people in a row with the hand to hand moves, that, and suiciding at a group of people with a grenade out, only to wipe them all out after they tear me down. Great stuff.
Yea Kael- the weapons are very forgiving. I don't have to 2-shot burst everything.
I love how you can play the game how you want. Want to be stylish? Grab the akimbo pistols and use the awesome melee system? A fan of C-S style gameplay? Grab an assault rifle and find a corner.
After playing NS for so long it's refreshing for 2 reasons:
1. It's soooo easy to get into. Add that to your NS reflexes, and anyone who has mastered quick weapon switching thanks to fading can seamlessly use melee combat to rock it up. I think my worst score when I played last night was 30-12 :o
2. The netcode is yay fun. I always thought there were only 2 types of netcode; 1 being HL where gameplay is smooth but sometimes the hitbox doesn't match up to the model, and the other being UT-esque where the reg is great but it can be a bit jittery. FEAR suffers from neither problems- unfortunately this now means that if I die I can't blame it on rates <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />
Oh and marik- get your ###### on a CTF server. Much better B>

Yeah, I tried a slowmo CTF server just last night. Again, mixed bag.
I'm spoiled by NS' and BF2's built-in voicecomm and community/squad system, respectively. FEAR Multiplayer would benefit plenty from voicecomm--as it is right now, if I don't find at least 2 other players to unoficially "group" with on my team, I feel like that server is a waste of my time.

I got about 150-250 kb/s on the torrent.
I have to say i've grown to like the Capture mode and that other where you capture those funny radar stations. Reminds me of capping a flag in BF2 and theres alot of teamwork in that.
Marik, if you havent tried the Capture mode, you should because it forces teamwork because like in BF2, the more people at the capture point, the faster you cap it. And the longer you hold them, the more points you get.

And none of the other download links are speedy.
If it's a big hit I'll give it a go- looks like the 1.07 patch makes it compatible with Fear MP.
[EDIT]
Gave it a go- and holy skulk this game is cool online!
Think Counter-Strike mixed with The Specialists, add a pinch of Rainbow Six and you've got a great game!

And i agree with you on the netcode sherpa, it just feels right. Actually most about this game just feels right.

Highest I've seem to download it is at 30 kb per sec, it's usually around 20 though.
