    A nice gesture...

Or a publicity stunt? It's gotten our attention after all.

Meh, should have made it blue with a hint of yellow to match IE 7's colourscheme <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />

It's not a PR stunt, the Mozilla guys chose to tell us about it.

Anyways, you guys are all delusional. Opera is so much better than Firefox/IE it's almost scary. I used to wonder why anyone would ever pay for a browser; then it became free, I tried it out, and suddenly I understand.

    HAHAHAHA... ha?

Does it comply to normal cake standards, or can it only be eaten with forks made in the US? </more bad jokes>

Used Opera, got ###### off at a lot of its little foibles, wasn't worth the money (or even being ad-blasted). Went to Firefox, and it's been much smoother and stabler, with none of the little irritations. I don't like something, fine. I can change it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

Now to download FF2.0. Only problem with FF is when you have over 70 tabs open at once, it tends to slow down a little.

    Plug-in/extensions.
And no, Opera doesn't have all those plug-in I'm using on Firefox.

I've had web developers (their field of work is online shops) tell me that Opera is rather quirky in regards to W3C standards.

    Such as...?

Oh, and its not even ad-based anymore. Its clean and free. And you don't really need a lot of plugins, because it does a lot by default.

And, although I'll get made fun of, some of the functions of plugins are already tackeled by widgets.

Does Opera have some kind of AdBlock feature?

I'm not surprised that a topic that should be about firefox has turned into a discussion about how great Opera is. I'm an ex-opera user who switched to firefox, and I'm never going back to opera.

I am surprised that a topic that should have been about firefox 2.0 is actually about how great Microsoft are for buying a cake.
  • lolfighterlolfighter Snark, Dire Join Date: 2003-04-20 Member: 15693Members
Err, the thread was originally about the cake, and that is what it will remain. This thread is about cake. Cake is what it is about.
  • puzlpuzl The Old Firm Join Date: 2003-02-26 Member: 14029Retired Developer, NS1 Playtester, Forum Moderators, Constellation
I'm not disputing that the topic is about cake. I'm just pointing out that the only mention of the firefox 2.0 release on these forums is actually a topic about how Microsoft send them a cake.
  • lolfighterlolfighter Snark, Dire Join Date: 2003-04-20 Member: 15693Members
Well, yeah. That's just how it is. But hey, if anybody felt it was worth more of a mention, they could always start a thread...

To be honest, I didn't want to post a "ZOMG FF2.0 OUTDAY!" post, as I had already posted another "news" ish topic, and didn't want to turn into DOOManiac and his slashdotting, so i figured, I'll post about the cake they sent.

Cake is better than web browsers anyway.
