Sony Killed Lik-Sang

Just what it says. Sony's lawsuits against Lik-Sang were won. Apparently, despite all of their import systems being shipped with power adapters suited for the addressee's area, it is 'unsafe due to voltage variations' for them to sell PSPs.

The shockwave, cost, and judgement against them has apparently forced them to go out of business.

Meaning NO import games for anyone. Despite Lik-Sang selling SCEA directors their advance Japanese PSPs.
Now I have to find another retailer offering the SmartJoy adapter. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" /> Knew I should have bought one when I had the chance.

Now I'm certain of which gaming system I'm not going to buy. Rock on, Nintendo. And to a much lesser degree, Xbucks.

Nintendo also had multiple lawsuits against em for the DS imports.

Im thinking it wasnt just sony that brought them down.

    EDIT- <a href="http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3154645" target="_blank">Apparentely,...yeah.</a>

Lik-sang didnt even show up in court...honestly, they shouldnt be ###### about it if they wont even fight on there own behalf.

WaterBoy, as easy as you make it sound, hiring a legal defence counsel to stand up against Soney costs big $$$. You can't just snap your fingers and stand up to giant international companies whose quarterly profit fluctuations dwarf what you've earned for the past five years.

Well at least that brings a bright side to the matter.

My dad did when Sony refused to replace his obviously faulty widescreen CRT TV. Took them to the small claims court and won. Sony didn't send anyone to defend themselves. Not worth it over a $6k tv.

Sony brought the suit on multiple fronts, according to Lik-Sang. They couldn't afford to fight Sony all over Europe.

And in Nintendo case, the stuff Lik-Sang was selling was without a doubt for the purpose of piracy. In Sony case, it's freaking import. I'm willing to bet Sony will be selling less PSP and Sony systems' games with Lik-Sang gone bye bye.

I'm no Phoenix Wright, but I think the main reason Sony has utterly raped them in pretty much every european state is so that they can set a precedent on disallowing the importing of sony products. By 'pure coincidence' the PS3 release date in europe is way behind everywhere else. If people import PS3s into europe before the european street date, chances are the number of official european sales will be lower initially as all the fanatics would have already imported their PS3s.

Clearly, Sony will remedy this particular situation by making sure their products are available and at a reasonable price in every territories for the benefits of their consumers, without punishing people trying to import games only available in Japan.

    This. They probably didn't want to face the humiliation of Sony's lawyer team. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />
