No matter what, marines stand a much better chance against Fades at short range than long. Sure, he'll kill you in two swipes, but at long range only 1 out of 4 of your bullets is hitting him, while the splash damage from Acid Rockets means that you are still taking nearly full damage.
Of course, this does not apply if the Fade is at close range behind you, whether it's by Cloak or Blink.
I find rushing them works more often than running away, especially if they're attacking turrets or a turret factory. I always rush a fade, even if I have HMG/HA or not. If I have HMG/HA, I'll probably kill 'em. Most of the time, I die with LMG and light armor, but that damn fade is going to be sitting at those defense chambers a little longer!
Two marines can easily take out a fade with LMGs, just get in his face, and if he switches to claws, back up and strafe, and you'll kill him in no time, otherwise those acid rockets are deadly. ;o
If i'm a fade i'm very hard to kill. Specially if i have cloaking and regenertaion, as i'm faster than you lot i will just run cloak, regen and then when you walk past hack you down or stork you with acid rockets. God forbid i get up close then you really have trouble. A heavy hmg will go down to a fade who knows how to use blink with no questions asked.
Fades just totally own all. The number of marines who die to my fade ways are just too high. From afar your acid rocket, when you get quite close if i can maybe a bile bomb then bam blink slash slash dead.
I have to agree that Fades are superior at long range combat than the marines. Beside I mean the Fade does have a "rocket launcher" and the marines have "machine guns", I mean which do you think is superior in long range? If you are a HA with HMG always give chase but be cautious if a Fade runs, unless they are using Blink to get away or your too low on health and armor. A few things to remember is that a HA with HMG has more armor and does more dmg at med range than a Fade. But a Fade is quick and dominates at melee combat. So don't let them get a surprise attack on you. Just stay cool, keep your distance and give chase. One more thing, if you place 3 trip mines strategicaly they can kill a Fade.
Rune is hell cool fun, especially near the end of SP when u grow like 4x bigger and just go reaping, some wicked fun. So is 4 player co-op @ LAN.... that was some of the best gaming i ever had!
I agree, knifing in CS does teach you a fair bit about playing NS, especially as a skulk, in CS i often just try to knife people who have automatic weapons,by dropping off ledges and the like...its pretty hard, but teaches u how to stalk ><!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
