I stick with Littlefox, and swapped the tab-closure behaviour back to FF1.5... having a 'close' button on every tab is redundant, and wastes screenspace. Also have scripted it so that it'll only show 'stop' or 'reload' intelligently.

Honestly, I'd love to find a way to shove my navigation icons and address bar into the same bar as my file/edit/etc menus, get it even more streamlined and out-of-the-way.

After all, the webpage you're looking at is supposed to be holding your attention. Not the browser UI.

I just keep it with the original FF2 theme, I like it.

Does that include changing that drop-down menu on the right hand side of the tab bar into a close button again?

Because I much preferred it when it had a close button, is there any way to change it so there's a close button there?

Yes, I disabled the 'list all tabs' button and re-enabled the single close button. Also set the tabs so they'd act like FF1.5 (they'll shrink to about the size of the website icon) but instead of overflowing at that point, the tab bar picks up the left/right scroll arrows. Would prefer to just have a second tab-row start up, honestly, but that's just because I regularly have over 80 tabs open at a time, and do actually use a good chunk of them. :b

In any case, here's a page showing how to restore FF1.5 tab functionality, along with a few other enhancements (the merged stop/reload button is very nifty!):

I'd toss up a desktop screenshot of my setup in action, but for some reason I can no longer grab screenshots... trying to paste them into Paint just gives an odd 'out of memory error', and Photoshop doesn't even see anything in the clipboard in the first place. Bit of a pain, really.

If you like simple and handy solutions, then give a try <a href="https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/364/" target="_blank">Whitehart</a>. I've been using it since FF1.0, and I don't think that I'll ever change it ;P

    I find the Firefox 2.0 theme absolutely awful so I went <a href="http://cdburnerxp.se/winestripe/" target="_blank">back to Winstripe</a>.

I have my address bar shoved up with my File/Edit/etc. menus. The only navigation buttons I use are Back and Forward. I have the Back button because it's needed to go back several pages at once, and the Forward button because there isn't any way to go forward with the keyboard (that I know of). Reload can be done with F5, and Stop can be done with the Esc key. I would put those two buttons next to my address bar on the top row, but they fit in nicely on the links bar.

Didn't even think of trying to drag all of the nav buttons up there with the 'customize' button. Nifty, even more minimalist and streamlined. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

I'll be giving Whitehart a try, but doubt I'll swap away from Littlefox... WH reminds me too much of a Mac, for some reason.

Personally I've been using this theme for the longest.

    <a href="https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1315/" target="_blank">ifox Graphite</a>

    It's simple and clean.

    I just use the default theme and hit F11 when I open a FF window <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

    Even more streamlined than littleifox

    filter: tab

browser.tabs.closeButtons Set that value to 3
