I recently spotted something that may or may not be a bug. on the main NS page that there are 32,744 registered users.

however, i spotted a new member that was number 58,532....

is it just me or it that wrong?

There are probably a lot of users that have been pruned from the database while the member numbers keep going up...

Although it's possible that many members were pruned it's not likely (over 26,000?!?).

I'm at a loss though for a better explanation. *shrugs*

I think at one point they wiped out everyone that had zero posts, which could easily be a lot of people.

At one point, yes, there was a big wipe of people who had 0 posts and had not posted in at least x amount of time (was like a year). It got rid of a lot of members. My forum ID is 7, my member ID is 3 (test users and such that got removed). So even in the low numbers, there is many missing or removed.

At one time I pruned all of my forums that way also, but it's really unfair.

A more accurate method would be to prune by last_activity date, which means they're still using the forums, just not posting. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />

what about the timeout errors ive been getting on the boards? Is this also a bug? I know its not my connection lol
