NS Suddenly Exits After About 10 Minutes Of Play

Sometimes To A Blue Screen, Often Times Not
Title and description mostly say it, but one more thing. after the game exits the desktop is very bright, as if from the contrast being turned up. however when i try to fix it using the contrast i cant get it quite back to normal. if i restart the computer this goes away. Also, if possible, i would rather software and settings solutions over hardware stuff first, since im not really in a position where i can go out and buy a bunch of new crap now.

Thanks. Really appreciate any help anyone can give. My problem is similar to this one, so if the solution you think it was has already been posted in there let me know.

i had that same problem with WOW and finally came to the sad conclusion that it was a combo of burnt up old ram and worn out fans making it overheat and do random memory dumps

Well that sounds about right, this computer has always had problems with heat and such. didnt know it was quite that bad though.

EDIT: I also have a second computer, but when i use NS on that, every about 15 seconds the mouse has this huge lag where it stutters and i can barely aim for about 4-5 seconds, after which it goes back to normal. i have a wireless mouse, any help on that?

this is correct, overheating of the videocard, overworn fans that don't keep up will cause the videcard to continue to crash even when your not playing a game, that or your screen goes black for a few seconds and then restarts.

I take it you have an ATi card? If so try turning off fastwrite in your control center and in your bios it will stop the crash occuring more often than it does now, but it will still do it.

BatBat told me to do this and it worked about 70% of the time but the other30% it would still crash but its better than nothing if you have no money to upgrade your system.
