What does registering your Steam ID here do?

Being as I'm no longer active in NS, this may be incorrect.
But I'd believe it to be linked to the Constellation membership, seeing as they can little icons ingame (or did when I last played). When you play, Steam reaps your ID for demographic, and authentication purposes, the IDs are then passed to the developers, who may either disregard the information, or get a demographic of their players.

What UWE does, is to link the SteamID to a donation, and gives you the little icon via a server.

HOWEVER

I have seen below some peoples' names that they are Constellation members. This, I assume, to be the result of them registering their SteamID on the forum.

It's a round about way of putting it, but it's accurate (as far as I know)

yup your correct its to identify the

Vets, consties, and dev teams to give them the icons in the NS servers, if its used for anything else thats beyond me i've not a clue.

yeah, they should really work on getting the donation system up ASAP I've noticed a lot of people have wanted to donate since the website went live again, but i guess the donation system is the last thing on their minds. I thought i recall someone saying that the one now maintaining the website was working on it but this was like 2 days after the website went live.
