A good feature to possibly replace scent of fear or motion tracking would be a sound upgrade. Players often use sound as a way to pin point where the enemy is coming from, and it would be great to make this a whole lot easier by adding an upgrade that displays which direction a sound is coming from.
The sound upgrade could possibly display only the sounds of the enemy or possibly environmental sounds aswell.
[Environmental sound detection] Could provide a counter to the ability as the enemy could walk in to a noisy area leaving yourself to rely on sight.
[Enemy sound detection] Provides the direction that the sound comes from by blipping on the screen and the minimap and would display for a short time.
This would do good as both marine and alien upgrade.

Yeah, the best thing is a sound card and decent speakers or headphones. Motion tracking basically eliminates cloak ......and silence to some extent. A visual for sound may be a bit much, could be too much going on with visuals as it is.
i think this is a good idea, as you guys know you can only hear a marine from a certian distance no matter how loud your headphones are.
it would be good to be able to hear some1 building a pg from half a map away.
well maby not that far but u get the point
and you would hear HA alot earler
you would have to make it so you can only hear far from whats infront of you. or sothat you can activate it, or there would be toooooo much going on
Very obtrusive.
I thought you were going to suggest a simple sound "blip" when an arms lab upgrade (or NS2-equivalent) is complete.
This idea I don't like.
