    Its like gigahertz compared to megahertz <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> So if you know a megawatt is 1,000,000 watts. Then you knew a gigawatt is 1,000,000,000 watts.

    Modern nuclear reactors produce 2100 megawatts of heat, and usually generate around 700 megawatts of power. Depending upon which type of nuclear reaction is used, as fusion isn't viable yet.
