hive locations

<div class="IPBDescription">different hive locations</div>Maybe with NS2 you could do something where the aliens can build
their hive in a choice of different rooms on a given map (the mapper
would obviously make these rooms larger, and set a specific position)
and the aliens would still have a max of three hives. That would give
the aliens a wider range of choices for positioning the hive. Maybe
have infestation of some sort start spreading out as the hive is being
built and be done when it is (damage could be represented with the
growth being less also to give you an added alert of hive damage)
Certain hives could be harder for the aliens to access, but give benefits
to the map, like lights going out or something else. Similarly, the marines
can control the other hive areas limiting the aliens progress.

It's a great idea but I see some problems coming up.

marines can't lockdown hives and defend them decently.
let's say there are 7 places to drop a hive on a map.
If marines lock down 4 of them then aliens can still easily drop 3 hives.

    3 hives= aliens win

On the alien team i see flamewars and bans because someone dropped a hive and others don't agree with the location. Just like the chambers in NS, it's almost a consensus that you first drop MC, then DC and finally SC.

    I've seen people get banned for dropping an SC at the start of a game. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":0" border="0" alt="wow.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/confused-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="???" border="0" alt="confused-fix.gif" /> sad....

yer was about to say its already been suggested. but id also add that marines locking stuff down as a stratergy isn't really a good thing anyway...

Well this can be avoided by this:

    <a href="http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?s=1798377618250431488&showtopic=98683" target="_blank">http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index....showtopic=98683</a>

Therefore there is no predisposed second hive drop..........and.....we'll just read it.
