<div class="IPBDescription">Need something small and inexpensive.</div>Hey guys,
I'm in a bit of a predicament. See.. I started college, and said college is downtown. I Live uptown... just out of walking distance. And it's winter. I lack a proper license, so driving is out of the question, and I refuse to Losercruise it. (Aka: Taking the bus).
I used to go back and forth to college on this:
<img src="http://pgroves.googlepages.com/Scooter.jpg" border="0" alt="IPB Image" />
...Keyword: used. I *used* to go back and forth to college on that, until the Canadian Winter came and froze the throttle cable. Yeah, people pointed and laughed at me as I whizzed passed then on a 33cc two-stroke scooter... but deep down, I knew they were jealous.
All I had to do was park it at the bike rack with a bike lock. I never had any problems with other vehicles or people. (I don't ride it on roads or side-walks. I actually go through a dirt access road to get to college. Shortcuts FTW). It handled the ruts and bumps pretty good with it's little suspension system and balloon tires... until the suspension snapped (see how the back sags?). (Which I secured with duct tape). Anyways, I'm rambling... I took this thing through hell and back, and I think I might have bent the rear axle with my massive 110lbs.
Anyways, I'm looking for some cheap transportation. Something with an engine on it (not electric!), perferably 100ccs and under. Manual, automatic... four stroke, two stroke.. it doesn't matter. Nor does the number of wheels... one, two, three, four or more wheels, as long as it moves. Something the size of a bicycle or a little larger, and relatively inexpensive (Preferably under $1000 CDN). Can you NS forum goers help me out with this specific request?
I was looking at one of these: <a href="http://www3.telus.net/dougsimpson/Gyro.html" target="_blank">http://www3.telus.net/dougsimpson/Gyro.html</a> But they're hard to get and pretty pricey - but that's the maximum kind of size I'm looking for. Something that I can use a chain lock to lock to a bike rack. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
Thanks for your time!

Riding an elephant with leprosy that's strapped with dynamite and has "kick me" spray painted to it's side would be safer.
*snicker*
Weld some wheels onto that fancy ps3 and skateboard.

Hell if a sledgehammer can barely take it down, then it should be able to handle the weight. And at least this means it has more uses than before, so more bang for your buck.
Anyway, as far as other methods, is a normal Bike just not something you can do or would there be an issue riding one? Unless the distance is way too great.
what you need is one of these:

Segway!

Man, I was actually going to post, "Anything except a segway" in my original message, but I thought I wouldn't have to. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

I Love biking, but I have to go up and down one of the longest, and steepest paved hills in my city. That's why having an engine is a very good thing. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" /> *Lazy*

haha and you say the bus is "losercruising" it. If you buy the thing you linked too you're probably going to get the same effect.

That's gangsta.

Thanks gangsta.

Of course, Denver's public transportation kicks ######.

Wear a monocle and a top hat if you do this. And peer over the edges and look down at people with one eyebrow raised.

I'd just go with the bike. If the incline is just too long you can always walk it partway/all the way up the hill. A summer ago I rode my bike to and from work. It's a pretty nice workout, I suppose, but the really big bother is biking up about 2 miles worth of hill in 90 degree burning sun after working for 10 hours (on the plus side, it took about 5 minutes to get to work, since it was all downhill). I still ended up just walking my bike up the giant hill near my house...
Of course, biking does have a downside, as come winter the ice makes it very hard to stay on the bike while turning on ice or snow. If your city sucks at plowing, or if it snows a lot /constantly, you'd probably be better off avoiding the bike altogether (same thing tends to be true for mopeds and scooters too, anyway). If there's snow you probably don't want to be going around in anything with 2 or fewer wheels.
...of course, riding a bike in the snow and falling does have the advantage that you wont get hurt, cushioned as you'd be by the snow, and you get to slide about 20+ feet in the snow, depending on how fast you were going when you crashed.
...not that that has ever happened to me.
...buy a helicopter!

Yeah, I Love biking - and I could probably suck it up and walk up the giant hill. However, having said that - I Live in a northern Canada mining community, a smallish town with very little services. The kind of town where you *must* have tire-chains to get out of your driveway. I did manage to get to school one day on my gas powered scooter (before the throttle cable froze), it handles... very interestingly on snow, heh. But a bike wouldn't, in this case. :/

Or better yet:
<img src="http://www.kart.co.jp/2003-suzukafull-250-paintcauru-002.jpg" border="0" alt="IPB Image" />
Or if that's to slow eat beans and you get this:
<img src="http://www.jetkart.co.uk/photolibrary/Jet%20Kart%207_big.jpg" border="0" alt="IPB Image" />
On a serious note, how about a quad, you can dress against the cold anyways...
<img src="http://pgroves.googlepages.com/Quads.jpg" border="0" alt="IPB Image" /> (Mine is on the left).
It would be very illegal to take it to school, lol. And pocketrockets are cool, but.. not very practical. A go cart would actually be a good idea, if I could find one cheap enough.
And quads are quite stable, if you're a good driver. I have rolled mine once, but it was at 2km/h into a pile of mud. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> They're not tippy.
Now, the "Yamaha Rhino" is. My cousin shattered his leg because the vehicle rolled over and pinned it under the rollcage. That thing was a tank.. oh man, the stories I could tell of where I took that overgrown golf cart..
why not get a motorcycle? :o

I have a few bikes, but it's kinda hard to ride them in winter, hehe.
