<div class="IPBDescription">the new ns_siegeg4b2s!!!</div>Well its been a long time but I have gotten my self up to reworking my old siege map (ns_siegeg4b2s), but with me no longer associated with them nether is my map. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" /> So comes forth ns_geeksiege version 3.3, not much of a change, just a few fixes to textures, made it harder for aliens to brake into the siege room giving riens a better chance to take out a hive or so before they get in. Few never documented areas were removed (who needs them might add something fun later on after some balance issues are dealt with).

If you run on your server post about it so I can some by when I'm not working and things can get fixed if there are needed <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
EDIT: Updated map had wrong path to sounds and minimap name was wrong so i made a new release 3.3.2 also this post has a link to images on my gallery (see above).
EDIT (3/22/07) : Fixed the update to make it work right <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" /> Also fixed image link since I changed some settings on my gallery.
EDIT (3/26/09) : Fixed the links, there well never be an update since I lost the source to this map and all my others in a drive format (woops) so unless I get a strange urge to rebuild this sorry.

Lightning is ok
Archtecture is horrible, siege style
Textures are monotone and bad aligned
Sry, i dont like siege maps very much
What i can tell by looking at the screens is:

Yeah, well, siege focuses more on the GAMEPLAY and FUN, not lighting or atmosphere.

Funny, and which part migh be "gameplay" about 2 teams, which can buildup to full strength without interferance from the enemy team? And then have an all out war for survival... I'm not saying siege maps are not fun, theres a demand for them which shows the contrary <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
But gameplay wise they are minimal, since there is no conflict for resnodes and territory during the buildup phase...They bypass a lot of the game content. But yeah, IF this is more fun/popular then there IS something wrong with NS I guess (or with the community? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />)
One thing I don't get btw. Howcome they can't be visual pleasing as combat/classic maps? Is there something against atmosphere/good looks or something <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/confused-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="???" border="0" alt="confused-fix.gif" />

A friend of mine - SGT Barlow, did make a very good siege map layed out in the style of a standard NS map, but playing to the standard siege rules. The game map was call NS_SiegeGenerator or some such. There was a post all about, will try and dig it out, but it was very good.
2 bad screenies are gone...

The question is: why should i play this map? It doesnt look good, the gameplay is like any other of those 1000 siege maps out there. Geek simply gives me no reason to even download it. I did play many games on siege007 they were often really funny, but every siege map feels and looks the same (sry, i think i have never played that siegegenerator map). I dont really see the point in making more of the same...
Be creative! Any1 knows co_skeetshot ? (spelled something like that) You can actually play soccer in there!
If you want to make funmaps, come up with new ideas. For example awp_map in conterstrike is still beeing played. It is unbalanced, ugly and there are many much better awp maps out there, but first come, first served.
What about a map, where gorges can bilebomb the marine base from a save location after some time is up? Kind of an alien siege?
It could be a challenge for us all to learn...
As most people are excited about NS:2 so am I, remembering NS1.03 rounds lasting 3 hours based on the game play being so even that one team would take a hive to lose a hive and battle it to the end when the team that didn't lose the most players to time won now that was fun. I'm just tying up an end by putting this out hoping to get into mapping again to hopefully get some good stuff coming for the new game <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
If you don't like siege maps then you don't have to, just don't diss on some ones work, not that I'm saying I couldn't have created something better, but its some thing I did and some ppl may want to play it.
With Flayra announcing that seige will be a supported gametype in NS2, i think this is a game mode that needs seriously looking into. I will speak to Sgt Barlow and see if he has any intention of porting it over, and/or any screenshots available so people can look at how to build NS themed seige maps.

I can't believe I read that. Siege an NS2 game type? I fear for NS2 and CS 12 year old stereotypes joining the community with poor mapping and social skills <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />
Here's the quote from the firing squad interview:
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->
<b>FiringSquad</b>: Will the new game still concentrate on the Marines vs Aliens scenario?
<b>Charlie Cleveland</b>:Yes. We'll also be opening up the gameplay rules though so we should support Marines vs. Marines, Aliens vs. Aliens, Siege and all sorts of other gameplay through map scripting.

wondered where you had dissapeared to...
siege maps are crap. Fun maps suck

Was that a really needed post? If you dislike it, you should not even post at all. Either way, nice map! As I've replied in the other threads as well, I mirrored this file: <a href="http://halflife2.filefront.com/file/;73853" target="_blank">http://halflife2.filefront.com/file/;73853</a>
I'm not trying to insult you. I'm just saying, as a mapper, you're not doing your job. I find it actually pretty disrespectful when i load up a map that's on fullbright (or random point lights in the middle of every room).
And whats up with 'version 33'? jesus man. Make releases few and far between, rather than a new one every time you re-center an individual texture.
