Impact Grenades

Did a quick topic search on this section and couldn't find anything soooo, whilst because this hasn't been chagned in NS so I somewhat doubt it'll be changed in NS2, I think the grenade launcher should fire impact grenades (i.e. grenades that explode on impact with anything, similar to the grenade launcher on the rifle in HL2). Because let's face it, if you've got a grenade launcher as a marine in NS, you are asking to be eaten by pretty much anything... but it costs 15 res! It should be a decent weapon, of similar power to the HMG.... a simple way to solve this, impact grenades, then you'd feel that you could actually at least kill skulks with it and would have a chance against fades and oni (?). This would increase the power of the grenade launcher, a lot, but imo it needs it. (Some might argue a grenade launcher is for destorying buildings, but lets be honest, NS is Multiplayer-FPS, it's fun because you're 'killing' other people, so any marine weapon should be able to kill aliens, if I wanted to do something boring and repetative, I'd go play Oblivion) Thoughts?

Players with this mind set probably wonder why they consistantly lose. EDIT: I know this is after your post, but this sentence is basically off-topic; usually when a game feels unsatisfying and that team gets handed a crushing defeat, its because of no teamwork. (or an epic leet h4x player with a 90-0 score and goes 1 minute onos)
NS is a team game, and the grenade launcher is already very vicious in the hands of someone who knows how to use it. If you're not getting kills with it, you need more practice =\ EDIT: Not to insult you or anything, but I've seen some pretty insane kill counts with the GL, by people who don't play this game 24-7 too mind you.
The whole point of a GL is to be an indirect fire splash damage weapon, not a direct fire rocket launcher. Use the HMG/Shotgun/Flamethrower for that.
The entire reason I put that sentence there was because, I was defending against the fact someone would just come along and go "NS is a TEAM game!! you shouldnt' be able to kill stuff!", and killing any lifeform with a grenade launcher if the alien player is any good is almost impossible, and I'm not talking about myself here on average I see about 0 kills with a grenade launcher per map... skulks don't wait on the floor around corners for you to bounch grenades round. Useful thoughts, rather than flame?
another approach might be to make them >always< explode after the set time, even if they land on an alien thing, it can be done that way especially if we are going to get flamethrower in ns2 so we can use flames to clear vents out then
Adding impact detonation also adds another role, alien killing. Seriously though, we don't need it. This would make the GL into something it really isn't, basically a rocket launcher. GL is a support weapon, not a killing weapon. Leave that to the already powerful enough Shotgun and HMG.
First of all, when you are attacking a location, and someone starts lobbing GL rounds into the room, there's a very little chance that the aliens would try to rush through and kill you. This applies with all alien players, when you see a wall of exploding shrapnel, it doesn't matter if your Onos or Fade, you DON'T want to rush through. Therefore, the GL prevents aliens from overwhelming marines doing the building work. It really isn't used to get kills, but really just to make sure the aliens stay back while marines erect some siege cannons. The GL is a support weapon, it was never meant to be able to make alien kills effectively...
Impact Detonation = Alien Killing
Bouncing Grenades = Supression
Same arguement as DumbMarine, giving the GL impact detonation would turn it into a ridiculously powerful weapon. It's like adding rocket launchers into NS, you don't have to have precise aiming, and you can get one shot kills. I think the HMG, LMG, and SG are already good weapons and we really don't need to add another weapon to the fold, especially one this powerful. Also, keeping the GL this way promotes team play because the GL is absolutely useless (unless the player is really good with it) on it's own but a godsend when with a team.
Also, the game can't have a weapon that has no downside whatsoever. That would remove the entire team aspect of marine tactics. A gler has to count on teammates for protection, while both shooting and reloading (in exchange for having a powerful weapon for shooting aliens that can't even see him yet)
If the player knows how to use a GL it can be a very effective weapon. He has to know when to shoot, what to shoot it at, and be mindful of his surroundings.
The GL to me is like a mobile artillery. Perfect to suppress the opposition's offense and perfect to tenderize the surrounding area with the cover support of some LMGs and HM Gs.
