What games are recommended to buy?
Basically ive pre-ordered a Wii which will be coming tomorrow as a birthday present (21st december) so I cannot play it until then, but im clueless about what games are good or bad. From reading some reviews on gamespot hopes arent high for lots of cool games, but I wanna hear a more general gamer point of view. As it is out in America already, there should be alot of you who already have a Wii, so suggest away!

I'm getting:
Zelda
Trauma Center
<eventually>
Mariokart
Super Mario Galaxy
Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles
Metroid Prime 3
Here's a short list... (note: old site) http://www.gamesforwii.net/wii-games
That is the ONLY one you need that is new. The rest should all be old ones.
And while its a sports game, I've been told that the Wii version of Madden has some of the most inventive uses of the controller yet.
I haven't got a wii yet - as it's not out until tomorrow here in bleskiveland (Denmark >_>, for the uniniated). But planning on getting Zelda, Wii Play (not out in the US before January iirc), Trauma Center: Second Opinion, Perhaps Rayman, probably Mario Party (whenever that comes out).
Edit: forgot about Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, Will probably get that too.
i'm also reasonably sure one of those animals is not, in fact, a cow.
edit: removed image for size reasons, instead click on that link.
Rent Super Monkey Ball. You may like it. It's not really my thing, but I can see how others would love it.
I hear Red Steel is actually not as bad as its made out to be, it's mainly just very very disappointing from all the hype. Maybe it's worth a rental too.
Really though I've logged more hours w/ Wii Sports than anything. :P
I'm not keen on Trauma Centre, operations dont really get me excited that much. As for super monkey ball, I got that on the gamecube so I might get it for the Wii.

I picked up Trauma Center for the DS *entirely* on recommendation. I had no personal interest in it, but so many people (whose opinions I respect) had had amazing things to say about it, that I said "what the heck" and grabbed it when I saw it on the shelf. I absolutely love it, and so does my girlfriend, and I've never regretted the purchase. It's not a "surgery simulator" -- it's an innovative game with an engaging, classic anime-style plot, worthwhile (if somewhat one-dimensional) characters, and some really fun and challenging gameplay.
When I heard the Wii game was going to be more than just a remake, it clinched it for me: I'll be getting it, and my girlfriend and I will have many fun times playing Doctor. ....ahem.
Thanks for the help guys! Much appreciated.
The whole Mii concept is so awesome too, I hope they incorporate it in more games. I want to play Smash Bros Brawl with my Mii, lol.
iirc, the DS works with the Wii which works with nearly everything, so yeah :S

So you mean, I can connect my Wii, which is connected to the TV, to play Dawn of Sorrow on the big screen??
Aaaaaaaaarrrgghhh. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/asrifle.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::asrifle::" border="0" alt="asrifle.gif" /> (I heard shooting stuff is a good way to relieve stress.)
