New unique twist for the alien side, hanging structures!
All/most/alot of alien structures will hoist themselves into place using source's amazing physics engine.


The Benefit

A ridiculously unique visual style!

The Breakdown(with images)
---------------------------------

Formation of a structure:<ol type='1'><li>An alien egg like structure is first plopped into exsistance.

</li><li>The player creating the structure would then select where apendages from the gooey blob would latch on to. This could probably be done using source's ropes system that we've seen in HL2.

Now <i>how</i> the player selects where the apendages go would be up to the devs.
The gorge making the structure could do so from their view, or the player could temporarly inhabit the blob and shoot out the apendages from the blob's point of view.
There would have to be limitations on distance and angle's the apendages could attach to for both balance and esthetic purposes.

</li><li>The rope lengths would then begin to contract thereby hoisting the blob into the air.

After the blob is in place(rope tention met) it begins forming the structure. Notice how in this image the structure would grow on the ceiling rather then on the ground.
It would be possible to shoot the apendages towards the ground or walls thereby allowing alien structures to grow pretty much on any given surface.</li></ol>

Structure sizes:

Gameplay Mechanics
------------------------
Location, location, location! With the ability to create structures pretty much on any surface the aliens will have greater flexibilty in their attack strategies.

Structure collapses? At say 15% hp an alien structure would unstick to the surface its on and collapse to the ground. Benefits of that building may be disabled when its in that state depending on its purpose.
Examples: a hive would stop functioning but would gain def; an offensive chamber would fall but still function, if placed properly it could drop out of sight for the marines.
Now if the structures aren't destroyed then they can always be regened by a gorge. May or may not be able to hoist themselves up again.

    THis actualy sounds good and balanced, I'd like to see fall damage for 15% and below structures aswell, as a penalty for building on the ceiling (but gaining it's tactical advantage).

    you could do walls of lame with it, ie oc on the floor, oc on the roof

    I dont see a problem with this since marines got 2 grenades with the upgrade. Packing WoLs dosnt give an advantage anymore.
