I've got a RAZR, and it's incredibly annoying after the Sony-Ericsson z500a I used to have (even with all the crashing the old z500 used to do). Advantages? It's trendy, it looks spiffy, and it has bluetooth. Disadvantages? No animation available, crappy camera, no MicroSD expansion slot, and if you like to use your phone as a modem it has no support for any of the Wireless Broadband networks. They're also painfully fragile, impossible to keep clean, and do not have a unified phonebook (ie: each number is a seperate entry, instead of just going to a name and moving left or right to select cell, home, work, fax, etc).
Personally, I'd recommend looking around a bit more. Borrow friends' phones just to play with them for a little bit, and see how you like them. If I could take mine back, I already would have, as the Motorola UI is notoriously crap.
now I dont need to betray my country <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
Then its back to NOKIA`s I have 6220 currently and its been really great but the camera is terribly outdated. So all I need is something with reasonable camera and some sort of ability to connect to teh intrawebzzor

I have a RAZR too, and other than being pretty and thin it's not really good at anything :X
And as Talesin mentioned, I especially dislike the menus and configurations in general :X And if Motorola's menus are always like this I'll bloody well stay away from that brand in the future D:
Edit: Oh yeah, and the "dictionary" (ie. the quick-type thingy where you just type the button with the letter on it once, instead of numerous times to get the specific symbol you want - and it guesses on a word at the "end") is awful, ie. nearly nonexistant, heck you're better off without it, but this is may be connected with "Danish" being a rather uncommon language, well compared to English at least - I haven't checked out the English dictionary on it.
I need a new phone so badly. I couldn't even tell you what model it is. I think it's from the 90's.
What I need is a phone that will let me upload <a href="http://unangelic.org/stupidlogic/uploads/codec.wav" target="_blank">my own custom ringtone</a> from the computer. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />

You know, my phone crashes sometimes too, and I just can't wrap my head around that. How the hell does a phone crash? I mean, its an embedded system, designed for one piece of hardware, with no additional software or anything to muck it up, so how the crap does it crash? Very poor design? Or am I missing something?

The RAZR's actually not bad. Most of what's been said is true except my version has unified numbers, and I've had no issues after dropping it a couple of times.
Best part is Verizon gave it to me <b>FREE</b> when I signed a two year contract, which didn't bother me because I've been with them for years anyway.

I don't fail that much at humor, but there's still a wire ;o
If you can get a deal from a cellphone company, you can get a PocketPC phone for under $200. I'd recommend the UTStarcom 6700 or the Motorola Q.
As well as a phone, it can be a MP3 player, video player, ebook reader, note taker, voice recorder, web browser, handheld game console (with emulators or games built for the PPC)...

My z500a crashed all the time because the primary OS was Java-based. And Java is craptastic, speaking from a coder standpoint, when it takes over 12 lines of code to just print out a text string. ARGH! That and the lack of Bluetooth functionality was irritating. But the wireless broadband Cingular offers was awesome on it.. something like one megabit down, don't know about upstream. Charged like crazy though... Cingular: Raising The Bill.
Used to have an animated Chibidancer as my phone background, when I had a phone that could have animated backgrounds. Now I just have a static faux cheetah-fur background, because it looks good against the black RAZR... and the razr is goddamn retarded for not being able to handle animated wallpapers. GRR. I want to return this thing, but can't... maybe I can sell the POS on eBay or something, and get an actual decent phone sometime soon.

Based on my last cellphone purchase, I can say the best time to get a cellphone is a weekend before that company's successor model is about to come out.
Example from personal experience: a weekend before the LG phone codenamed "chocolate" was released, the people in the <my cellphone carrier name here> store were doing everything in their power to sell me "chocolate"'s predecessor, the LG "fusic."
I mean everything...first they pricematched it down to a different phone I was also interested in, then added on a hefty discount because I'd been with <my cellphone carrier> for two years, then informed me of an additional $75 rebate I could get by walking down the street to a supermarket & picking up a Kellogg's cereal box w/ a mail-in-rebate form on the back.
Seriously, who thinks of cereal boxes when they're in the market for cellphones > $300 before discounts?
Anyone here has some old Nokia, I really wouldnt want to betray my country but I think I have to as most of Nokias models arent what I am looking for... and razr is deffo out of the bin.

I hear the Krzr is supposed to be alright for an mp3 player/phone.
It would be nice to know which company you are with so we can recommend the appropriate phone, seeing as not all phones can be used by all carriers.
*edit*
Clarification, is it CDMA/TDMA/GSM/iDEN
