<div class="IPBDescription">The 360 edition</div>I won the jackpot this christmas, and got myself a brand new Xbox 360 + Gears of War. I thought I'd check out the forum to see if any fellow forumites were playing on Live, only to discover the latest thread dated back to the beginning of 2005, maybe we should make an official, updated thread?

    I don't have an Xbox 360 yet. I made the Gamertag so I could browse the forums and participate in the discussions there. I will get a 360 sooner or later though.

    uh-oh explode... I'm not 100% sure on this but I think once you've registered your gamertag you can't use the free live period that comes with your machine on it. In order to get that free 3 months or whatever you have to create the gamertag on the machine.

    I could be wrong, but I was checking everywhere frantically and still haven't found a solution :/

    You're right... but it's too late now. I love the nickname and I spent a long time finding it. Also, I'll buy a one year subscription when I get the console anyways... I'll be fine.

    Actually Gem, it's not the machines that have the free Gold period, it's the individual gamertags. When you first make one, you get the option to do a 1 month Gold freebie. BUT, (as of when my cousin made his on the Xbox website) you can choose to upgrade to 1 month Gold for free even if the account is a bit old. They might have changed this, seeing as they changed the whole "3 months free Xbox Live" to 1 month Gold.

    Also, remember that all Xbox 360 gamertags <b>by default</b> have Xbox Live Silver status, which means they can do everything online, except play games. You need the Gold sub for that.

    well when I moved my tag which I'd made on the site to the machine it didn't offer it and when I tried just about anything I still couldn't get the free month or whatever. Checking the FAQ it seemed to say that only gamertags created on the machine got it :/

    Like I said, they might have changed it, seeing as they can never quite make up their mind about things. Although, I hope they do keep the current Live Marketplace design. Works <b>SO</b> much better than the previous version. Although they do need to add some viral videos to it, it'd be interesting to see what the Live team consider to be "viral" in the sense of a video...

    GOW is already taken, for God of War.

    GEARS is the how you say Gears of War. Not "Gears", but "GEARS" because it's awesome.

    Just deal with the conflict. City of Heroes and Company of Heroes get along just fine, as do Day of Defeat and the Department of Defense or The Brotherhood of NOD and the Noobish Order of DOOManiacs (of which you are the sole member).

    Fine, I'll use another acronym next time but only if we're not discussing Xbox games. I used GOW here because we're talking about Xbox. Therefore it would be natural to assume that GOW=Gears of War.
