Non-official subtitle files?

Right, basically I downloaded a subtitle file (scroll down after the screencaps for the sub file) and I was wondering, is there any way to use it on a DVD?
What I mean is that I have the EpIII DVD in my drawer and I want to watch the dvd with those subtitles (that obviously aren't on the dvd) without resorting to stuff like ripping it and re-encoding it. What I'm looking for in fact is just a simple program that would allow me to display the subtitles, and that works with DVD's. I know that they exist for divx files but I would rather watch it off directly off the original copy.

I believe VLC allows you to load a video with a separate subtitle, although you would have to manually open the proper file on the DVD, probably the largest .VOB file in the VIDEO_TS directory.

[Edit] Upon further investigation, the movie is probably split into several .VOB files. I think you're able to queue them up and still only use a single subtitle, not entirely sure though. [/Edit]

BSplayer also lets you load a seperate Subtitle file, not sure it plays back DVDs, well, I guess it does if you have another DVD player installed like WMP does..
