Some people like to use internet internet slang constantly, while other people avoid it entirely. I tend to avoid it, except if I'm typing in a game or something I'll use abbreviations and shortcuts to save time.
I think one factor is that many people who use it want to show off how much of it they know, while people that avoid it entirely want to appear educated.
When I do use slang it's usually an acronym like gtfo or OMG. I don't think those are as bad as phrases like "win," "fail," "b&," or "tl;dr." I absolutely stay away from sarcastic self-mocking internet slang like "zomg," "!1!!11one," "winnar," "teh," "intarweb," and all the other intentional misspellings to look cutesie, which are all irritatingly common in the NS community. Why do you or why do you not use internet slang?
Don't spam this thread with jargon please, it's predictable and not funny.

and emperor awesome, i must disagree with you saying this forum is full of 13 year olds because that is totally not true, just look at the birthdays. the youngest birthday is 17! and the oldest is 102! that 102 has to be raising the average to somewhere above 13. and we know these numbers are reliable because (checks forum age) who would lie about their age on a forum?
