Internet slang

Some people like to use internet internet slang constantly, while other people avoid it entirely. I tend to avoid it, except if I'm typing in a game or something I'll use abbreviations and shortcuts to save time.

I think one factor is that many people who use it want to show off how much of it they know, while people that avoid it entirely want to appear educated.

When I do use slang it's usually an acronym like gtfo or OMG. I don't think those are as bad as phrases like "win," "fail," "b&," or "tl;dr." I absolutely stay away from sarcastic self-mocking internet slang like "zomg," "!1!!11one," "winnar," "teh," "intarweb," and all the other intentional misspellings to look cutesie, which are all irritatingly common in the NS community. Why do you or why do you not use internet slang?

Don't spam this thread with jargon please, it's predictable and not funny.

Weren't you the guy that made the anti-NS-Forum Forum?

Look, your other two threads got locked and that should be a fair indication of what you can expect when you take this track. You've tried to disguise it a little bit but it's still idiotic and serves no purpose. This is NS; people pretend to be mature adults but the forums are full of 13 year olds whose deluded elitism disallows them from admitting that they play counter-strike and say LOL and do stupid smiley faces just like every other dumb recluse trying to appear sociable on the internet. Making thread after thread about it complaining isn't going to help -- either ignore it like everybody else does, or find a new hobby that doesn't include being around people as annoying as you.

I always insist on spelling as correctly as possible, but I still use abbreviations from time to time, especially the most common ones such as lol or WTH, but not at the end of every other sentence. I hate with a passion one-letter word abbreviations such as u or c.

Smileys, however, I use way too much.

i usually dont use internet slang, but i dont care when other people do it. it just shows what kind of person that is, and that doesnt necessarily mean its a bad type of person.

and emperor awesome, i must disagree with you saying this forum is full of 13 year olds because that is totally not true, just look at the birthdays. the youngest birthday is 17! and the oldest is 102! that 102 has to be raising the average to somewhere above 13. and we know these numbers are reliable because (checks forum age) who would lie about their age on a forum?
