I've had this a little while, when i was making a map based off the movie even horizon a while ago. Do you think it would look right in an NS map? Those are temp, "loose" textures btw

    yeah...make the rings thinner, textures better...and get it to spin faster and i think it would look appropriate.  Take out the pool at the bottom though cause it looks EXACTLY like event horizon and that isn't good <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    I was just gonna include the sphere, not the rest of the junk around it <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo--> Its also spinning a lot faster than in the avi, the compression of the avi is 5fps when recording so it looks a little slower

    That would be pretty cool to stick in, if you could find a purpose for it.  Don't just stick it in because it would be cool, but I think you'd be pretty good with that.  And you definitely need to change it a bit so it isn't the movie in a map.  You said that you'd just include the rotating stuff, which is good.  And like Mofo said, work on the rings and the texturing above all.

    real nice looking.  with some quality texturing, that could be very cool.

    Looks cool, reminds me of the movie Contact.  It's not an effect that I haven't seen before (was used in a discontinued SI map called si_moon), but it's still nice to look at.  Maybe you could use it for some kind of space-age generator.

    Oh yeah Event horizon one fo my all-tiem favourite movies!
    Add that sound the sphere makes, and let those lights on the rings emit light <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
    Btw everybody seems to forget that those textures are placeholders.

    have it around the command station...when it's in use...the spheres spin...when it's not in use...they don't spin...i think that would be a cool effect.

    yeah, that would be kool (btwL: this effects been used in lots of places, that SI map, MiniGolf2, etc)

    Very cool, just make sure it's much faster than that. A suggestion for a really cool effect would be making the inner one spin at speed 'x', the middle one spin at speed '2x' and the outer one spin at '4x'. Or the other direction. If you get them spinning at different speeds (with very large differences between them, such as x, 4x, and 16x) you'll get a REALLY nice looking effect.

    Really nice, I want to see that in a NS map. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    A generator? Something to put in a room with lots of resource nodes? Some sort of radar? Alien entertainment, sort of a cinema for bobs? Will this cause a lot of lag?

    Lot of ways you could use this.

    that is very cool looking, it should definately be thrown in somewhere.  I can see it being scientifically justified as a gravitational generator of some sort, or perhaps used for particle acceleration.
    i think it would be very cool if the sphere was replaced with some glowing sprites, or... dare i say, a particle system?

    this could be an incredible feature to a map, something that would awe me over and over
