<div class="IPBDescription">Heya!</div> Hey, guys i'm new to this forum so I thought I just introduce myself before I asked for help so that I didn't look like a totaly idiot.
First off, to explain some of my background i play TFC alot and i'm engineer most of the time with super shotgun being my main wepaon so that i'm not one of those engineers who spam EMP's and hope their sentries kill everything else. So, i'm sure i'm much more adapt at this game then some of those engineers. Also, i've been playing Half-Life games for a long time and i'm famaliar with all the controls and the feel of the game so that isn't a problem.
In most of the games I play I like being the player who does all the work for the team and gets no credit (hey, i don't know why ;P). For anyone who used to play Infantry:Online I used to be engineer, so you know what I mean.
Ok, so everytime I start the game I always screw up and try to find my way around and get used to the game but always end up getting thrown into the important spots or up against the "1337" players. So this game, I've decided that isn't going to happen to me so I need some help on what I hope to play, the Gorge. I need any help on what to do and what to build and what not to do and anything to do with aliens that you will think that helps me. I owuld really really appreciate any help you give me so, yeah please help me. Also does anyone know of any guilds/clans where I could learn to play Alien exclusivly(Not sure if thats the right word, but like a ONLY-Alien clan or something to that extent).

P.S.- Anyone know where I can find demo's of gorges playing(even though this is probally the most boring).

The best gorge guide ive found, by far, is <a href='http://pacificcoast.net/~rmcleod/ns/gorge_tactics.html' target='_blank'>HERE</a>. Goes through pretty much everything you need to know.
There arent many clans out right now, let alone single race clans (kinda hard for a single race clan to play a tourney match where you have to switch sides), but just do what i did: keep playing the same race on the same map until you get the hang of things. Might be boring, but you learn alot faster that way.
Most important: if there are already 2 gorges on the alien team, and only one hive is up, DO NOT morph to gorge. A finite resources/sec is coming in to your team, and it is split up among all aliens, but gorges get 3x the normal share. Therefore, more gorges = less resources for each gorge. 2 gorges is the optimal number in the early game (one hive), and people WILL yell their heads off at you if you move them out of this 'sweet spot' in resource gathering. Its best to just move along to a different server, or try playing one of the combat classes.
BTW: everyone has super high pings because people are trying to server NS on the same types of systems that they server CS on, but NS uses TONS more processing power. So it isn't really internet lag, but the extra time it takes for the server to process your data. And believe me, the lag was even WORSE before patch 1.01 came out.

Read it up thoroughly and practice until you get it right.
Now wouldn't the various public NS servers be a better place to be if everyone else is to be like Mattkid? Get to know how to play the game first before charging into a server.
Progress so far:
Read some of the guide and it gave a somewhat clear idea so I decided to go and try and see if it works on a public server. I spend 20 minutes trying to figure out why 'you cannot play on a server running ns until you install the custom game' while i'm in NS. So i go to the tech board and see that the desktop icon is screwy so I go through the start way. But i'm getting lag of 600 to 1000 ping on the server (on a LAN) so I decided and wait 'til the internet gets more stable for me (it'll be like an hour probally) and then i'm going to try again. In the meantime I'm going to throughly read over the guide and learn the secrets of the.....
