-one thing that's always bugged me is that when watching other's weld, they still hold both arms out like they're supporting a larger welder, even though the new welder is held with only one hand. will this be changed at all in any way?

yes as soon as someone enters it you will see a marine with proper animations (/me cries) entering the chair. Then it will slide down on the rail attached on its back and the screens will float in front of it. and then the armor will set up around it
