I don't like the way each Edition has basically become 'OMGZ0R U MUST BUY T3H CARDS AS TEHY 0WNT TE3 LAST EEDEETIONS!!111oneone'
Edit : Does look kinda nasty though. Leonid Elders = Eek.
cute lil combo (re not most effective, unless you got a pile of mana)
b4 oponent ends turn, use wirewood symbiote to return viridian shaman to hand, than play shaman, (kill artifact) return to hand (kill artifact) (repeat if you have multiple wirewood symbiotes)
i had 4 symbiotes and 3 shamans one game and some kill artifact sorcery, and something like 32 land(elf mana ****), (4v4 game, twas insane) killed like 8-9 artifacts in a few short sec, they had nothing to counter!!!
haha, well, im a noob and got lucky, but it was fun
Thats the biggest reason I got out of MTG. Had a killer deck back when homelands (?) was hot ****, put it into retirement for a few years, brought it back out only to have my **** handed to me by a starter deck (I **** you not, freshly opened at the begining of the game). Thats pretty much when I decided to sell or trade all of my cards. Now all I have left are a few of the Unglued series, they were just too much fun to get rid of.
Since this is a MTG deck thread, I'll post my deck as well. Both our decks are sort of similar, so who knows - maybe you can get a few ideas from mine as well.
CREATURES (28)
4x Leonin Elder
4x Myr Retriever
4x Frogmite
4x Myr Enforcer
4x Arcbound Worker
4x Arcbound Stinger
1x Arcbound Crusher
1x Arcbound Reclaimer
2x Arcbound Ravager
SPELLS (7)
4x Shrapnel Blast
3x Second Sunrise
ARTIFACTS (5)
3x Pyrite Spellbomb
2x Welding Jar
LAND (20)
4x Great Furnace
4x Ancient Den
4x Darksteel Citadel
1x Glimmervoid
4x Plains
3x Mountain
First off, this deck is <i>fast</i>. Typically by turn three I'll have two of Arcbound Worker / Arcbound Stinger / Leonin Elder, a Ravager and/or Retriever, and at least one Frogmite out. And if I get a good draw, I can usually drop a Myr Enforcer for free at this point as well. Turn three = six or more useful/stong creatures.
The whole base of the deck is the Arcbound creatures and their counter-relocating ability. I let them die either by fueling a Shrapnel Blast or in combat, transfer their counters, bring them back with the Retriever/Reclaimer, and play them again with fresh counters. In the case of a particularly bad attack/defend, I can let my Arcbounds die, transfer the counters around, then play Second Sunrise to bring them all back with fresh counters (<i>yes, this is legal, and brutally effective</i>).
Any time I can get the Arcbound Ravager through in an attack, I'll sac every artifact I control to it for the kill. This creates a sick amount of tokens since I'll be transferring every existing token to it, plus the tokens for the sacrifices. Otherwise, the rest of the rebuildable army will gradually hack my opponent apart.
Just jesting <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I know what you mean ever sence tempest hit sotres everything became over powered. Now to mension uber expensive amounts of money you spend, thats you i mostly trade and buy of ebay lol. Besides this give me something to do during my off hours at school.
I have this really "meen" reanimater deck.
GO AVATAR OF WOE!!!!!!!!
tap: destroyer a creature can't be regenerated. (got to love that!)
First turn woe is "meen" NOTE: This deck is banned =\
Heres what you need!
out of the seven cars in hand you will need at least one of each......
Dark Ritual (Banned)
Entomb (Banned)
1 Swamp (=])
Exhume
play in order ---> Swamp ----> Dark Ritual ----> Entomb (for powerful creature) ---> Exhume (comes right into play [GG])
NOTE: to those that haven't guess already i'm a quote unquote "G.E.E.K."
But w00t for MTG. I love instants like Fear, love things like Soul Burn, and I love Fallen Angels.
Then one day, me and some friends thought it'd be fun to have a few booster drafts. Just the eight of us, just for kicks. So we ripped open a box, and did the draft thing. It was fun, so we did it again next weekend, and the next weekend. Now instead of having three unopened, sealed, <i>expensive</i> booster boxes, I had a few hundred rares and uncommons, and a <i>mess</i> of commons.
Sadly, I simply didn't realize the value of what I possessed. What I paid CDN$375.00 for a few years back would now be worth maybe CDN$1000.00 or more. That's a damn good return.
Recently, I've been picking up a booster box for every new set. I've got the Odyssey and the Onslaught blocks, and I'm working on the Mirrodin block. I figure I can stash these under my bed for a few years, then bring them back out once the booster boxes get to be damn expensive.
Here's the cool thing - even the bad sets get more expensive!! Yep, even Fallen Empires!! I figure I can just keep hording booster boxes until I've got a dozen or so. That'll be four consecutive blocks. Definetely worthy of a hefty ebay auction. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
...seriously, nothing. He has a perfect record playin it. Never lost a game. I lost 2 with it, but my fault with the mana. I didn't know the full way to play it at the time. But yea, its a beast (cost 2-3 of his paychecks to make)
Now my deck is funny. I like to call it the "Get 'em While They're Down" deck.
Creatures
-----
4x Viashino Sandstalker
4X Wall of Blood
4x Goblin Sharpshooters
Sorcery/Instant/Artifact/Equip/Enchant
-----
4x Pulse of the Forge
4x Grab the Reins
4x Shock
4x Hammer of Borgadon
4x Slice and Dice
4x Dark Banishing
3x Pyrite Spellbomb
2x Talon of Pain
Lands
-----
4x Urborg Volcano
4x Temple of the False God
7x Mountain
5x Swamp
Ok...who wants to guess the Ultimate Combo?
Grab the Reins + Wall of Blood
Ok...so...what does that do?
Well, first off, before you can do this, they have to be at least 1 life below you. SO lets say its 19 them 20 you. You have Wall of Blood out. Cast Grab the Reins on it (Sacrifice a creature, deals damage equal to that creature's power to target creature or player), choose to do damage to player. Now, in response to you casting it, pay all life -1 (in this case, 19 life) and pump Wall of Blood from a 0/2 to a 19/21. Instant death.
Most i have done this for in single play is 16, most in team (shared life/abilities, 40 life) is 42 (the guy had some life givin stuff).
What do y'all think?
Oh, and then theres always my elf deck with a twist, which I'm too lazy type it. But hey, everyone has an elf deck.
you gain ten life with it and lose the player who controls the card loses ten life when card is taken out of game, so i pump my self up, "give" them the card, than kill the card, bam they lost 10 hp i gained ten, 1 round later they are dead...
hehe, its annoying and gets old fast, but, just fun

I'm lost with Tequila.

Slivers > Whatever you play.
the last deck i made was a black deck revolving around megrim, howling mine, bottomless pit, ensnaring bridge, hymn to torach, hypnotic/abyssal spectres, dauthi mindrippers, and other related cards.
but yeah. each new expansion has cards with incredible new abilities that invalidate your old decks. that, coupled with diminishing funds caused me to quit.
Slivers > Whatever you play. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
I've seen perfect like sliver decks being owned at times, I forgot what they used though.
A friend of mine has a damn good sliver deck, but I can usually beat it maybe 50/50. I've really only got two decks I play regularly, and they've both beaten every deck I've played against <i>at least</i> half the time.
Now, I spend <i>a lot</i> of time designing and building my decks, and just about every one has been tournament-quality. One deck is listed above (although I'm still fine-tuning it), and the other is a mono-blue bounce/control deck. I've beaten Slivers, Elves, discard, Clerics, Angels, control, and more. I usually have trouble against a fast burn deck, but that's really the only big weak point.
Speaking of rareity Shivan isn't that much 40 bucks at max me thinks. The most valuble card is BLACK LOTUS = 400 to 800 bucks easily on ebay.
And to whom ever said the control board deck is unbeatable, its ok but the thing is it will be crushed compared to a affinity deck, my friends gets a 4\4 enforcer first turn and with these archmages can draw a card whenever a artifact comes into play witch means 3rd turn Broodstar your dead!
PLus mine can kill it easy too. All i need is 4 cards and your dead, for fun 1 of any other type will hut you in some way majorly. =)
GO ELFS, if you don't have temberwatches or wellwishers burn your elf deck NOW!!
If you want help making a deck btw, please ask the MTG Guru (*me*) =)
NOTE: a control the board deck is like this Memnarch plus Lattice your gone.
Memnarch = tap 4 mana gain control of artifact. (This effect doesn't end at the end of the turn)
Lattice = all permanets are artifact and the libery is artifact in addition to there other types
Fun stuff =)
It was me. And the solution...
Pulse of the Fields to gain life back, and Akroma's Vengance to wipe out Artifacts, Enchants, and Creatures. Simple, eh?

No, I mean literally control the board. Mindslaver. Control opponents next turn. Cannot mana burn opponent.
Thats how u truely control the board.

Just some advice... Try and limit down the master combo to at least 2-3 cards. Makes it easier to happen, since less things need to come up. Of course, I don't know your deck, so it may work for you...thats just how we ppl here in Hickville do it.
And to having questions/comments/deck help, I gots my own Guru on speed dial. Thanks anyway though, man.
GL and HF at any tourney you attend!

hehe, i suppose thats an unglued card
Sliver decks *can* be beat, the problem is doing it without building a specific anti-sliver deck.
Jesus, if they drop just a Ward sliver most decks are at least part screwed. Or the wonder of Mana Echoes <-> Sliver Queen ?!?! EEK!

No, its not. Chaos Confetti however is an unglued card. Same effect, only when you play it u rip the card up and chuck it <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
And re: the wall of blood/grab the reins combo, its auto-lose against any sort of burn.

This + Stifle = 9/8 flying trampler for the low, low cost of 4U mana with no loss of turns!!
<img src='http://findmagiccards.com/GF/USC/MTGC/SC/STIFFLE1.jpeg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
To counter any upcoming replies of "you can't do that!", you actually <i>can</i>. Stifle can be used to counter any triggered ability. The "When EoD comes into play ......" on Eater of Days is the triggered ability.
A friend of mine built a Stack-manipulation deck a few months back, and it was awesome (when it worked). <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
My black deck specializes in killing then reviving other players big creatures, so as you can imagine I've got 4 terrors, 2 dark banishings, 4 animate dead, and A vile requiem (this sucker is a monster in long games.)
<img src='http://www.essentialmagicimages.com/31/5690.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
Also I have a bunch of land kills mixed in to stop them from putting out big creatures in mid game.
And then as my troops I have lots of creatures that just never die, ex: fog of knats, drudgies, unworthy deads, etc. Not to mention a healthy dose of shades.
And the great thinga bout this deck is the most exspensive card in it is like 4>5 mana, so I barely ever have to draw any mana.
And about slivers: try this combo out, toxin sliver + Talon sliver. After you get those 2 out, put out a crystalline sliver, and maybe a winged sliver. Then watch the game end.
Or say a crystal cavern, tap 5 colorless mana, get 1 of each color, can you say drop every card in your deck onto the table? Or perhaps go with a queen and coat of arms, did sombody say 20 20/20 creatures?
