Why the hell would anyone voluntarily buy a Full Screen DVD unless they are my parents?

A friend of mine can't stand widescreen movies on a 4:3 TV, mostly because he gets distracted easily and the black bars are distracting for him. Personally, I won't watch full-screen movies unless they were filmed that way.
