I'm at 30. I guess I am the fighest one on this topic . Its nice to be able to spin around and instantly shoot a skulk that was cloaking and bit you from behind. As far as aiming you get used to it, however, aiming at objects all the way across the map is hard do to the minimum the pointer will move(only really needed in cs/dod). I am not a fan of moving my mouse a foot to the right to spin all the way around. I like my 1 inch spin around
been using sensitivity 20 in all my fps since quake 1.
it allows instant 180 degree turns, making it really deadly as a skulk; you run toward someone and bite them, turn around instantly and bite them again. kinda like you kill them in one pass
it also really helps when fighting against HA; just keep running around in circles and doing passes on them, constantly biting. if they have real low sensitivity, you can easily take one out since they'll have a hard time keeping up with you. (dont forget to jump up on walls/ceilings sometimes and bite them in the head )
as for marines, it really helps against most aliens (like anything with celerity, blinking fades, or lerks). once you get used to it, you can easily keep your crosshairs on a skulk bouncing around walls and ceilings (or, which has been already stated, that skulk that rushed you from behind)
the only major drawback with having high sensitivity is with any kind of scoped weapon (sniper rifles). i usually have to make a bind that drops my sensitivity if a game has one. (doesnt apply in ns though, so i dont really see any major drawback in high sens in ns )
9.0, but doesnt this also relate with windows setting....? like, one person has 20.0, but can move slower than someone with 15.0 because of the windows mouse sens?

40 sensitivity might be fine for tracking a celerity skulk leaping in front of you, but your aim will probably improve significantly if you gradually knock it down to a more reasonable 20. Try it at the least.
These threads are always stupid anyway because any type of quantitative analysis is rendered meaningless by extra-Halflife variables that aren't accounted for, such as Windows sensitiviy among other things.
No trouble following anything, it really is just getting used to it... I can follow lerks or fades no problem. And pick of skulks with pistol from far... Thier is no right sensitivity its all getting used to it.
If you dont have an optical mouse you want to have a lower setting though so the inacuracy affects your shot less...
I don't understand why people are so proud of their hugely unreasonable sensitivities. Lower your sensitivity, you WILL improve your aim. You seriously won't believe how much of a difference it can make, just give it some time.

My sensitivity is set so that a one-inch sideways movement of the mouse turns me approximately 360 degrees (a full turn). It is useful for close to medium range fighting, but I find I have trouble hitting aliens at long range with the pistol. [edit]That's when rapid-firing it; I have no trouble hitting them with single shots.[/edit]
Windows settings and your mouse(and mousepad) both have a big effect on sensitivity, what seems like a ridiculously high sensitivity to you might just be someone with their windows sensitivity turned down or a crappy mouse.

The lower your sensitivity is the better. I remember my Razor Boomslang mouse, which was so sensitive it took me several months to adjust to it. Once I did, I used 3 sensitivity and could spin 360s with a mere twitch. After it died, I bought an optical mouse and was very disappointed at the lack of sensitivity. I do have a RatzPad though.

I believe if you get used to it, you are a lot better off. There really are no disadvantages if you simply become accustomed to it.

An optimal sensitivity will turn you ~160 degrees when you turn your wrist slowly and comfortably left or right to it's normal maximum without pushing yourself.

I really think the sens depends on the pad and the mouse itself.

I'm perfectly serious.
Edit:
Windows setting is on max too.
im back to 6-7 for ns now and about 4-5 for cs
That's because of my abysmal aiming, nothing to do with my sensitivity, really.
Your sensitivity probably has everything to do with your abysmal aiming.

ns - 20.
I don't move my wrist while i'm marines. only my fingers move the mouse and aim for me.
No trouble following anything, it really is just getting used to it... I can follow lerks or fades no problem. And pick of skulks with pistol from far... Thier is no right sensitivity its all getting used to it.

An optimal sensitivity will turn you ~160 degrees when you turn your wrist slowly and comfortably left or right to it's normal maximum without pushing yourself.
So how about we go by how many times you can spin around from one end of a normal sized mousepad to another?
i for one can do two 360's from one side to another.
P.S. my sensitivity is 4.0
Or just measure it in terms of degrees per inch or centimeter.
