Smart, they log ip addresses to insure that people don't vote twice. This might actually be a fair poll.

FSAUSUSUUGUGHHHHH I can't believe HL is losing. I really wanna know how many ppl will be playing metroid prime 6 years after its release.

gamefaqs is probably the most console-biased site out there. A similar thing can be said about the fans. Nothing to see here, move along.

Half-Life mos def. Prime's extremely boring. The speed run was fun though.

Exactly, but you have to realize most of the people on GameFAQs are stupid Otaku's that don't know the beauty of a PC.

not to be touchy on the details, but I don't play HL anymore. Just its mods that keep it living (and do a hell of a good job at it)

But HL was still better than Prime. Add in free mod goodness and you got a winner in my eyes.

1st off, how can one of the major finalists in the Gamespy poll, DeusEx, not even be on there?

2ndly, how can Metroid be beating Half life?!?!

    ... Metroid Prime sucked
  • OmegamanOmegaman Join Date: 2004-01-11 Member: 25239Members
I think of it this way:

HL pwns Prime. However, come on people. I think HL has won enough awards to hold it's own for a long time. Give the other games a chance.

    Thats why I voted Prime.

Wow, I thought metroid prime was boring and pointless. I mean come on an auto lock on FPS with no strafe joystick? WTH were the devs thinking...
  • OmegamanOmegaman Join Date: 2004-01-11 Member: 25239Members
There was no auto lock, You had to hold down the lock button, and while in lock, your analog would change to a strafe joystick.

    Wth are you talking about?

Oi...I will say until the day I die- Metroid Prime is NOTHING. It had NOTHING going for it except cool weapons and good graphics. The A.I., the one thing that could have made it incredible, WAS CODED SO TERRIBLY THAT THEY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT TO JUMP UP SO THEY COULD SHOOT ME. I'm sorry, I just cannot forgive idiot A.I. Bad AI, sure. But when its as stupid as they had, its unforgivable, and not fun.

Metroid Prime was a great game, but unfortunately, GameFAQs is full of console fanboys... ESPECIALLY of PS2 descent.

    Just what I was thinking.

It may be the fact that Prime is freshly-played, but it was a no contest vote for me.

    I just <3 Metroid.

Believe me, I wanted to love that game. I really did. I love Metroid. I love the style. I loved how it was going First Person. I really wanted to be a big fan. But when the AI is as bad as it was in that- I just can't play it. I got near the end, but just stopped. The hardest enemies in the game were hard only because they did massive damage, and have massive HP. The AI was terrible on them.

Half-Life's AI wasn't to great either, but I don't remember anything bad about the AI in Prime. I know it wasn't anything complicated though.
  • pardzhpardzh Join Date: 2002-10-25 Member: 1601Members
Honestly, you can complain about the AI in prime, and not that of Half-Life's? <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I didn't vote and since I have played neither game I choose HL, although HL does have nice mods, I never really liked the sp on HL, or the MP regular for HL only the mods. Although JK does pwn HL . :-)

Exactly, it's not like HL AI was uber-awesome. I remember seeing one grunt just running up and down some stairs just stopping randomly to shoot a burst. I chucked a grenade at the top of the stairs, and guess what? He ran up the stairs! BOOM! Chunky Noodle Soup, everywhere!

I dunno. For me in HL, the AI was damned smart. And either way- Notice HL is 6 years old, and its AI still holds up against the average games of today. Yet, Prime's is so much worse. I mean, it had EVERYTHING else going for it(but story)- and they blow it on the most important part. Whaaa....and thats why Nintendo sucks now(I used to be a big fan of them too, but after the triple screwup[mario paint thingy, windwaker, and metroid prime], I cannot support them like I used to, to the death)

My first battle with grunts in Halflife is still fresh in my mind today...

They used boxes for cover, they layed down cover fire to keep my head down while they advanced. When I hid in any one area too long they chucked a grenade to force me out. Inf_nodes accurately layed on the map allowed them to not only path around objects but to know the best routes to each object to hide behind.

It was incredible, and I probably won't forget it for a long time to come...

And it was technology currently outdated by six years.
