    Armor 1 would completely negate Focus in Combat if marines took the time to weld each other. Since they don't , they die to 1 focus bite after they've been harmed.

    In theory , Combat is balanced. That is , smart players can counter the other side's upgrades , a single marine can take Scan and prevent all aliens from using Cloaking effectively , MT to counter Silence , or armor upgrades to counter Focus (which is supposed to counter Resupply)
    However , the average Combat player doesn't have the required intelligence for that. So the devs have to add illogical changes to Combat in order to reduce the amount of whining.

    Dan can't these noobs get armor 1 instead of whining about focus !

    If ppl stopped stacking marine and played aliens a bit would know focus is barely worth the point as someone said erlier, over time you deal less damage with focus due to insanely low ROB ( Rate of Bite ).

    Maybe fixing the useless 4th hive abilities would be time better spent.

    Anyway, it's been like this for lots of beta, aliens nerf, marines boost. Any marines that is not blind can kill 2-3 skulks that are charging at him. ( i know i can ) So i don't fear focus. Just shoot them first ffs !

    The problem with focus wasn't one hit kills, it was the fact that two hits from any lifeform would kill you.

    what would you rather do with 3 points, go fade or stay skulk with focus ?

    Every good alien knows focus is a bad choice in all.

    Focus is good for quickly planned attacks againt unsuspecting rines...

    Focus is bad when you have to take multiple shots or hitting buildings...

    <span style='color:red'>I have to say <b>Beta 4a</b> is the best version in v3.0. CO is so balanced now, it's scary. Marines actually RUSH to try and kill the hive within the timelimit, lerk flight loses SOME energy (PERFECT), focus is now 2 (PERFECT, especially for fades in CO), etc. For the people who hate the 10 min timelimit and wishes it was more, the admins can change that to whatever time they want (PERFECT)! If this system in CO changes, I'm gonna cry.

    Well imo, beta4a is far from a good game, it may be balanced but hell, id rather have 20 minutes for pure gameplay then a couple of minutes of pure carnage.

    I mean i used to be able to get into a game of Combat, but now its no sooner started than its over. I played on a server with a 15 minute timer, and still most games were over in a couple of minutes, where has the fun gone, now all the game is, is a case of whichever team spawncamps the other 1st wins. Ive played over 20hours since the new beta came out and in 95% of the pub games i played, it was over so fast, it was boring.

    It is a different story in a private server sure, but hell this game is supposed to be a community game, now all it says to me is, if you want a decent game, dont play with the community. I want my fun back... and i think ill just go and get it.

    .... Goes and downloads beta3..     The thing is that focus overpowers the FADE not the skulk. THis is an issue ive argured time and time agian. The fade needs nerfed and cost reduced. By making phocus 2 points youve largly nerfed the already weakest lifeform in the game.

    armor 1 does not nullify focus because armor WEARS DOWN.

    now ill explain to you. I am saying this from a stand point of playing with VERY VERY VERY good marines. these are not your pub marines. Early game a group of marines puts up a wall of lead that will take out ANYTHING that comes at them. Inorder to get kills you have to throw yoru entire team at them in order to let 1-2 break through and get into melee range. these 1-2 skulk then get focus. But this does not work every time. and now with the new spawn system if this fails marines rush your hive and you lose. but if the marines all die those 1-2 skulks with focus rush to the marine base and face a half spawned marine team.

    If you stupid stupid marines would get armor 1 first instead of weapon 1 you wouldnt die in 1 hit. it makes me very agrivated to have to explain these kind of things to ignorant people.

    1 point COMPLETELY NEGATES FOCUS 1 FRIKIN POINT and my 2 POINTS is useless. NOT only have you just earased my advantage but now i have gimped MYSELF because i attack slower. Overall focus makes you do less damage per second.

    With out focus it takes 3 bites to kill a basic marine with reinforcement. THAT IS IN FRIKIN POSSIBLE. it gets alot worse when they get armor upgrades. How would YOU like to have to bite an la marine 5-6 times to get a SINGLE KILL AS A SKULK. and then if you miss a bite it goes POOF and they have full health.

    Im sick of having marines who cant aim complain about getting killed. It is incredibly hard to get into melee range without leap and then even WITH leap youll die in the air. Go to a good 5v5 server with PRO players and see how far you get with this rediculously gimped skulk.

    B hoping needs to be removed with a speed increse for skulks. I want speedy skulks who run on the walls and ceiling to envade fire, not a bunch idots jumping around with their 3 jump scripts thinking their LEET. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
    Maybe try not rushing marines head on. If you actually ambush marines or hit them from behind it is very easy to get some kills. I laugh when a group of skulks try to charge me and some other rines as it is free xp. On the other hand when I'm a skulk I usually camp up in a place where I'll get some xp from the dumb skulks that charge in to die and happen to get a kill. Then when I have others with me or when I know the rines are past, I come out and kill them.

    Skulks should never be able to live if they are rushing marines head on. That just isn't how they were meant to be played. With the timer now, there is no reason you should really try. Rines can camp their ms all they want, and they will eventually lose when the timer runs out.

    I think the change of focus from 1 point to 2 points is the best thing in beta4a. Focus spawn camping ran rampant before, and now spawn camping isn't nearly as bad. Armor 1 hardly negated focus as I've very rarely seen anyone weld each other until someone gets HA. Armor 1 was completely ineffective when a lerk was sporing rines to death and wearing down their armor.

    While I miss Focus as Lerk for taking out Jetpackers with one bite, I've since subsitued Silence, and found it to be just as effective. Spore down their armor, then swoop silently behind them and down in two quick bites.

    As a crap skulk but good lerk, I really don't like the focus change. Everything else is ok.

    On pubs, on co_, it is very difficult to win as aliens now if the marines simply rush the hive. A few shotguns on the way, and its all over. Some games I played last night lasted less than a minute. You can't hide in ambush unless you want all the marines in your hive shotgunning your house.

    NS - Multiple alien resource towers can be built on a single node. I've seen as many as three on one node. Not sure if all of the nodes collect resources or not.
    CO - mp_combattime variable set to 0 (zero) resolves the issue of games only lasting 10 mins (default time) and having the marine team feel pressured to take out the hive in pub games. The server I run for my clan, this variable is set to zero.
    CO - Lerk flight using adrenaline is nice. However, with it only using 1/2 of the amount as it was set for beta 3, it's still not enough. Perhaps set it to 2/3 or 3/4? Adrenaline bar goes back to full as soon as the spacebar is released. It's as if it weren't even used at all.
